    Sides 1 & 4 on one disc; Sides 2 & 3 on the other

This is a question I have always wondered. I noticed that the following was very common on Casablanca albums and also on Sylvester's "Living Proof" album: pertaining to double albums, the first disc consisted of Sides 1 & 4, and the other discs consisted of sides 2 & 3. Was there a purpose for doing this?

hmmmm...I think this has to do with the "stackability" of records....You used to be able to stack several records on a spindle above the turntable and when side one was done, the next disc with side two would plop down on the turntable and would play.

then you would flip the stack over and sides 3 & 4 would play. sound logical???:icon_exclaim:

Marky is correct. It goes back to the bad old days of record players with stacking changer mechanisms.
