    MFSB's "SUMMERTIME" LP

This charts next week and, not having this LP, I'm confounded as how to chart it. Billboard just says "Summertime" (PIR LP)...now Joel Whitburn lists the track 'Summertime And I'm Feelin' Mellow" along with 'Picnic In the Park" as the key tracks that Record World charted...

The title track is the Gershwin "Summertime" tune from "Porgy & Bess"....I'm wondering if the whole LP is dance-oriented or whether it's just primarily the two key tracks listed in the Whitburn book.

I'm not sure if I should do an "all cuts" (it doesn't ever say that)...or zero in on 'Summertime And I'm Feelin' Mellow" when it says 'Summertime?" (Billboard likes to abbreviate things so they fit into the page better...)

You advice would be appreciated. ("Picinic In the Park" does get mentioned separately later on.)

    Tracks:
    1 Picnic in the Park
    2 Summertime Gershwin, Heyward
    3 Plenty Good Lovin'
    4 Sunnin' and Funnin'
    5 Summertime & I'm Feeling Mellow
    6 I'm on Your Side
    7 Hot Summer Nights
    8 We've Got the Time
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Let me put you out of your misery. I'm surprised Graham Start has not done so already... he denoised this album with love and care as one of his many pet projects!

So anyway. This is mostly a dance album, with a few slower tracks (but no ballads). "Summertime" starts real slow and mellow but becomes a true groover. "Sunnin' and funnin' " is a kind of mellow track, as is "Hot summer nights".

Thanks for reminding me of this album. I will leave it out for Sunday morning.

So you would recommend I chart the whole LP and list all the tracks?:-?:-?:-?

If I remember correctly, NickNack told me that "Summertime" was the big number off of this album.

    Did you see that???

Graham: that, my friend, was your 2000th post. Quite a milestone!!

Marky - perhaps go with Summetime. I would highly rate the whole album though.

Thanks for the input, guys...I am such a doofus:oops:....last night, laying on my couch vegging out-- all of a sudden I remembered that Maarten had said that Graham had restored this...at the time it didn't register, but then it dawned on me:icon_idea::icon_idea::icon_idea:.."hey didn't I get this from Graham a few years ago?" and then I started "diggin' in the crates"... and sure enough there it was :icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen:...I had totally forgotten.

So I played it and the whole LP would pretty much qualify I think...so I'm gonna go with that. And thanks again to Graham for his gift!!!:grin::grin::grin:

It wouldn't have been possible without another forum member who loaned me the album... I only recently found (and got) a copy for myself. :)
