    Hi Danceman,

I'm having a problem with my e-mail, so I couldn't reply to your e-mail, but I did send you a private message on this site. Just click on it.

To answer your question, I saw the original LP version of Herbie Mann's "Hi-Jack" ( a big personal fave of mine, BTW) on a Herbie Mann box set--BUT didn't want it bad enough to spring the $50 or so bucks for that CD.]

Are you aware of those remixes on Atlantic titled "Everybody Dance!" ? "Hi-jack" was included--BUT they're remixed for the current dance floor scene--so they will mostly disappoint--although there were a few that I liked. "Twilight Zone" remixed by Jason Nevins & Albert Cabrera comes to mind as "a good thing" and a couple of Spinners & Aretha songs were given good beats, also.
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Ney Danceman. I have "Hijack" on a cd titled "let there be Drums, Vol.3: The 70's."
It's 5:17 in length on this cd and is the original. By the way, I have that Everybody Dance cd and I would not recommend it.
    Find them and destroy them!

I have "Hi Jack" in a CD compilation called "Atlantic Dance Classics" next to good stuff by Sister Sledge, Change, Cerrone, Manhattan Transfer, etc. The CD cover is green and orange with several dance shoes. I can look for the catalog number if you want.

There you have it: "Atlantic Dance Classics" is released by some Turnstyle Records from NY, distributed by Atlantic in the U.S. and WEA (now Warner Music) in the rest of the world. Released in 1992. Here's the full songlist:

    -Soul Makossa (Manu Dibango)
    -Twilight zone (Manhattan Transfer)
-Dancin' in the key of life (Steve Arrington) (this one is terrible!)
-Magic of the blue (Blue Magic)
    -Supernature (Cerrone)
-That's where the happy people go (Trammps)
-Get on up and do it again (Suzy Q)
    -Paradise (Change)
-Remember what you like (Jenny Burton)
-He's the greatest dancer (Sister Sledge)
-Love don't you go through no changes on me (Sister Sledge on their pre-Chic days)
    -Hi Jack (Herbie Mann)

All complete versions, BTW. The catalog number is 7-14215-2.

Thank you again, Nano....btw: you didn't care for "Dancin' in the Key of Life?"... I remember wherever I went, that song and "Feels So Real" were dance floor fillers whenever the crowd wanted to come down from on high a couple of notches...
