Practically all the hit songs for KC and the Sunshine Band.
They didn't do an extended remix until Do You Wanna Go Party in 1979.
And since you mentioned Amanda Lear, I would have liked Queen Of Chinatown to be longer.
Would love to have seen a special mix of the following when they were originally released:
"Now I Need You" - Donna Summer
"Atomic" - Blondie
"After Dark" - Pattie Brooks (sorry but the almost 8 minutes is still too short)
"Love Chant" - Eli's Second Coming (6 min lp version is too short)
"Fashion Pack" - Amanda Lear
"Music in the air" - Rice and Beans orchestra
Just when you thought it was all over - no, no, no

I think I remember seeing somewhere a promo of "Boogie Man/ Keep it comming love" from the Part 3 album... Not sure if it was a special disco mix as that would be interesting to hearOriginally Written by needlefingers

Here's the only one I have ever seen. And only in promo with no remix.

And always at a high price.
By the way, you mentioned Jackhammer's in Fort Lauderdale. Where is it and what type of club is it.
I'm from Hollywood, Florida and will be there this summer. I haven't been home since 2000. I'm looking forward to hitting a few clubs.

Thank you for starting this topic! I actually contemplated it a few times, but never got around to starting it. My list isn't going to be long, but I will include tracks that had pseudo long tracks (i.e. extended only by editing tracks to repeat verses).
Bee Gees - all of their dance stuff, including Stayin Alive which really was the same as the regular version except for the extra bars of the horn instrumental.
People's Choice - all of their dance stuff, especially Do It Anyway You Wanna and Jam Jam Jam All Night Long. The former got a re-edit courtesy of Tom Moulton on that Philadelphia Classics reissue, but that was it.
Glitter Band - Makes You Blind
Jermaine Jackson - Erucu
The Ebonys - Hook Up & Get Down
True Reflection - Where I'm Coming From
Marilyn Chambers - Benihana
Tony Valor - every song on Side A, with the exception of Girl which received a true extended mix. Gotta Get It was just lengthened through a repeat edit on the 12"
Eddie Drennon - Lets Do It Again, and some of the cuts on the Would You Dance To My Music LP.
Eddie Kendricks - cuts on the He's A Friend album. There weren't any remixes from this LP. The follow-up philly album, Goin Up In Smoke, had remixes in the title track and Born Again.
Fatback Band - Yum Yum

...oh forgot to add to the list...
"What a Night" - Giorgio Moroder
Just when you thought it was all over - no, no, no
I always had the fantasy that there was a secret long version of
RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED FROM --- Maxine Nightingale
waiting to be found ..............
There isn't :icon_neutral:
Most anything that is this side of six minutes is really too short ....

Thanks discofrank.
How I miss those Hot Spots magazines.
Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You
Rare Pleasure 'Let me down easy'
Executive Suite 'When the fuel runs out'
Don Downing 'Dream world'
Chaka Khan 'Im every woman' in its original version!
And my all time fav.....Mighty High by The Mighty Clouds of Joy!!!!
For Don Downing, there were two extended tracks - one that was 4 minutes, and the other was mixed and released in '78 as a 5 minute version, with a drum break, on Doctor Boogie.Originally Written by Davicillo
Well...for Executive Suite, if you don't mind doing the work, you can make your own extended version. There was a 45 release with the instrumental mix on the flip, so you can edit the vocal and instrumental to make a 6 minute plus version!
Disco Funk
"Hooked for life" Trammps
"I dont wanna loose your love" Emotions
"Clouds" Chaka Khan
"Time waits for no one" Jean Carn
"Hold tight" Change
"I just wanna wanna" Linda Clifford
"You are you are" Linda Clifford
"Go get it" Metropolis
"What about me" Chic
"Sexy eyes" Doctor Hook
"Rescue me" Taste of Honey
"Taste of bitter love" Gladys Knight
"Put a little love on me" Delegation
"Stay free" Ashford and Simpson
"I am so hot" Denise LaSalle
Ok.. This One We Will All Agree, Im Sure...
"dancing Queen" - Abba

For sure! I think it was Tom Moulton who said in an interview that he wished he had gotten his hands on this one for remixing.Originally Written by discofrank

That Tom Moulton mix of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" was one I would have loved to hear as well.. Kind of unfortunate that Tom passed on that one, since ABBA were never keen on having their work remixed in the first place.. Another ABBA song that probably would have benefited from a special mix is "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)." They could have got some great breaks out of that one and maybe even brought the tempo up a little..
Some others:
Alec R. Costandinos - Grooves
The Temptations - Happy People
Brenda & The Tabulations - I Keep Coming Back For More
Three Degrees - Bodycheck
Sylvester - Hard Up
not to mention many of the Supremes' disco tracks (I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking, Youre My Driving Wheel, Let Yourself Go etc..)

Never knew he had the opportunity to do so, since he remixed anything under the disco umbrella during that time. I can understand why he would regret this particular one to this day.Originally Written by neonlights

"She Is a Diamond" from Midney's Evita/Festival project...Criminally short at 2 minutes (!!!!!!??) (especially when Midney was into EPICALLY LONG songs..."Rainbow High" seemed to go on and on and on, and THAT was 6 minutes) "she is a Diamond" could've gone into a horns/strings latin tangent at the break...oh well, great male vocal, too!
we can fly...above the sky...
songs i wish were longer...off the top of my head:
Paradise-Change
The End-Change
Special to Me- Bobby Caldwell
Love won't wait-Bobby Caldwell
Young Hearts...-Candi Staton
That Same Old Feeling- Viola Wills
First, Last...-Barry White
Can't Get Enough...-Barry White
Let Yourself Go-Supremes
Gypsy Lady- Peaches & Herb
and "proto-disco":
Up in a Puff...-Polly Brown
Na Na Hey Hey...-Steam
Hang On in There Baby-Johnny Bristol

Didn't Tom Moulton remix 'Get Down Tonight'? I'm not sure when it actually got the magic treatment but it's definitely out there.
The one song that I wish was longer is 'Upside Down'. I used to play it 20/30 times in a row cos I loved it so much.
More Songs...
Why- Sergio Mendes & Brasil 77
Rock The Boat- Hughes Corporation (should've been made to sound punchier)
Love Is- Gino Soccio
Love really Hurts...- Billy Ocean (1975 original)
Sky High- Jigsaw (1975 original)
Utopia, Me Giorgio-Moroder...What a trip this one could've been!
If you Weren't Afraid- Moroder...what a trip this one could've been, part 2!
Volver a Empezar(Begin the Beguine)- Julio Iglesias...a missed opportunity; with the right remix it could've been classy like "When Love is New" by Arthur Prysock...
Everlasting Love -Andy Gibb- could've been the twin sister song to "Ain't Nothing Gonna..." by Teri Desario
and, needing new exciting BREAKS only, I nominate:
Plato's Retreat (Joe Thomas) and Up On the Roof (Viola Wills) have the WORST BREAKS on a Disco record in my opinion...great songs until then: I felt the energy drain from the dancefloor whenever these songs were played and the dj let the songs play into the break...could this be a new thread (Worst Breaks?)
we can fly...above the sky...
I actually came across two longer versions of this track a while ago on Napster. One was subtitled '(title)' so I think it may have been taken from the intro of the film Man From Hong Kong, since it had that horn instrumental section that you hear in the intro credits. Another was a 5 or 6 minute version that had a different drum, and was slightly slower in tempo. It sounded like it may have been a later 70s remix or remake. But it was definitely Jigsaw.Originally Written by srg

Absolutely!! This definetely needs a special disco re-edit!! This particular track sounds so different from their other material, just begging for a remix!Originally Written by srg
Actually, the 45 single includes an instrumental on the b-side. You can easily do your own edit with this.Originally Written by srg
I believe in 1979 or 1980 .. There was an extended version released. It had some of the verses shared with a female singer. Had the euro-disco touch to it too!Originally Written by srg

I agree on the KC songs needing a longer mix.
People may be tired of these, but I would love to hear a longer version of Hues Corporation Rock the Boat. It's one of my guiltiest pleasures.
Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing
Emotions - Best of My Love
I've heard recent re-edits and new extended mixes of them - but I would have love to hear what an original extended mix would have sounded like without all the modern bells & whistles.
Crystal World from Crystal Grass was way, way too short too!
