She arrived this morning and will play a theater tonight, but I won't go, because I already saw her 11 years ago (in the same theater) and felt cheated as the "musicians" were obviously pretending to follow a pre-recorded tape!

However, an hour ago I saw an interview with her in a local TV show. She insisted to talk Spanish (I think Paul could give here some lessons, so go imagine ;) ) and her answers were pretty laconic. Anyway, she remembered playing in Lebanon some years ago and having soldiers from both parties as custody; said she had come to Argentina several times, the first of which, to my surprise, was in 1975!; said that she was living alone (so she sacked the boyfriend-manager I had seen with her that time); and talked a bit about his reborn Christianity (she referred that at her church there were some rappers doing Bible speeches to attract kids ).

Someone asked her which were the versions of "I will survive" that she liked best and worst. For best she named a young female singer (I didn't understand the name) who recorded it as a ballad; and for worst, of all choices, the Cake hit version because there was cursing in it (was there a "fuckin'" instead of a "stupid" lock in that one?)

She ended singing alone over a pre-recorded track of "I will survive" (not the original), which she made half in Spanish, with the TV show guests dancing behind her. They had been doing it earlier in full disco costumes anticipating her visit, but when time came for her to sing the costumes were in the closet... Maybe she didn't want to be seen as so related with a music from the past? Who knows...

Anyway, that was a bit of reporting from your Bs. As. correspondent.
