"You need a change of mind" alternate version?

I have a 12" single by Brooklyn Express called: "You need a change of mind" b/w "Back in time", which are pretty much different versions of the same track, both mixed by Tee Scott. I heard what I thought was actually a better version (more radio-edit ish) in a store; of course, the salesgirls were clueless (in general, of course, and also in RE anything related to the music being played there). Does anyone know of a different version of this track? Both mixes on my single are credited to Began Cekic, the guy behind BC records and Brooklyn Express, so I doubt they are just remakes of a pre-existing track. And I have no knowledge of a Brooklyn Express LP containing an "album version". Any help?

You can listen to the single version here:

P.S. I still also need to identify the following track, from a Taxi episode (Elaine's strange triangle):

    The link didn't work.

Could it have been a remake of the Eddie Kendrick's track Girl, You Need A Change Of Mind, I wonder?

I just corrected both links: they DO work now. As for the Eddie Kendricks track, it's definitely what inspired Cekic, but not the track I was looking for. It might be someone else's rendition of the Kendricks' tune, or an album version or radio edit by Brooklyn Express. Thanks for your help on both tracks, KoolChris

That sample is an edit/reconstruction of the original by Kendricks cutting off all the begining verses and using the instrumental parts especially the secong half and the last minute of the long version, in this remix they have some isolated guitars elements that don't seem to be part of the original(as far as I can tell) so maybe they had access to the masters, is not bad, as it doesn't add to much processing, although the overall sound (eq) is different with some re-verbs added etc. At the end of the clip they over laid JB's "claps your hands" chant from his "Give it up turn it loose" life version Lp, although it doesn't sound like JB doing the chants. I don't know if I liked that to much :???:

I don't know where this version was taken from but the original release was available on the "give your body up" Volume 3 series and of course in the original Kendricks "People Hold on" Lp

Thanks for your reply, Mixmachine; it's hard to tell if the Kendricks' material was sampled or reorchestrated with a new cast. The J.B.'s sample you're referring to is the beginning of a break in the track, that I didn't fade out of in time.
Any idea on the second ("Taxi") disco sample? I've really been looking for that one...

Nope, I checked the Paul Lewis version, not bad, but not what I heard. I'm begginning to think what I'm looking for was probably a remix of the Brooklyn Express version, as I recall the voices, tempo, instruments and general feel of the song were very close to the latter. Hmm...

Don't know if this helps, but the Brooklyn Express track is out on a new CD from Soul Brother records called Groove On Down, Vol. 2. This may be what you're looking for as it's only just been released and we all know how CD can sometimes make tracks sound 'different'.

Thanks Quinny, I'll try to check it out, hoping it's a different mix from the original BC 12".

The taxi episode track LP is on this site: :sad:http://www.discomusic.com/records-more/6851_0_2_0_C/). So the track is "Do the Boogaloo", by Sammy Burdson & Jean Claude Madonne, under the names of Quango & Sparky. Thanks for the tip on the Brooklyn Express track. I'll try to check it out.
