    Instrumental only unkown song...

    Hi everyone:

Can you identify this instrumental only song? It's around 1974/75.

    Follow this link to listen:

And please forget about the DJ speaking during the song. He is speaking in portuguese. For those who never heard someone speaking in portuguese... enjoy it...

    Thank you.

    Cheers,

    Hessel

Man, I wish I could help you. All I can say for sure is that it's a Philly production. I recognize the style. Can you post a longer sample? Maybe it's just an instrumental section to a vocal song?

It's not MFSB as far as I know, because I have all of their albums. Like you say, it's '74/75. Typical of the Philly sound from that period. Maybe it's an obscure recording on Philly Groove, Silver Blue, or one of the other many labels that showcased philly songs.

I'd loooooove to find out what this cut is. As some people know on this board, I am a Philly Soul Phanatic!

The same people played in the Salsoul Orchestra, but I own all of their albums and all of the philly salsoul recordings by the various artists, and none of the tracks sound like this one. This might be a more obscure recording produced by Norman Harris, Bobby Martin, etc...

    Hi everybody:

Unfortunately that's the one part of the song I have. I also think it's Philly sound.

I am a Philly sound enthusiastic. I love the sound of MFSB. They played the drumm in a unique way.

Thank you anyway. Let's wait and see if someone else could help us.

    Cheers,

Damn! Not the song. I had heard a more uptempo instrumental from Armada Orchestra. Had that Salsoul sound but no where near as tight and nice as this one here. I was hoping. Maybe some of our new members can take a listen. Really would like to get my hands on this.

    Hello NickNack:

    Tooooooo bad.

This song name is a nightmare to me. I have been trying to discover it for the last... let's say... 30 years... maybe more!!!

    Anyway... Life goes on...

I am going to go out on a limb... could this be a piece of library music, or just a small piece created for commercial purposes? Listening to it again, it sounds like the whole thing is a commercial or a music station ident or something like that. It stops so conveniently as well...

I don't know, perhaps we are chasing a track that was never a track...

    Dear Maarten:

I'm so sorry to say that I'm almost shure this is not a song for commercial purposes only. This radio station was a small station. They did not have enough money for that.

Besides, this was not their profile. This was a program they had in the middle of seventies. All the song they played were known songs (such as Billy Paul, MFSB, Trammps, Love Unlimited and so on)... except this one... this is why this song is still my nightmare...

    So keep trying...

    Cheers,

    Hessel

finally i could understand 100 percent something in this forum !!! as the speakers talks in Portuguese and it´s my native language i can translate it all for you for that you can conclude if it´s a music or simply a short song for commercial purposes only. Here is what the speakers said:
"You have asked for and the CONTINENTAL played (pause) and you gained your PERSONALIZED RECORDING (pause) Enjoy it and you´re ever welcome..."
note that he said PERSONALIZED RECORDING, but i don´t know if he was talking about that "song" itself or it was only an introduction or a message regarding another music. The mistery goes on...

    Re: Instrumental only unkown song...

Hi Luiz and all other forum members:

You are absolutely right about the translation.

As a matter of fact it was a cassete tape. Side A (from which this misterious song was taken) was like an advertisement of this radio station (Continental), such as "we have the best music selection" or "we have the funniest ads" and so on.

Side B was the personalized recording you have asked for, in this particular case was "Laughter in the rain" by Neil Sedaka. The unknown song WAS NOT the personalized song.

So tntdeejay the unknown song continuous... misterious...

    Cheers,
