    synth-heavy disco

Hi there! I just love listening/dancing to synth-heavy, densely-layered disco; when i was dancing BITD i thought ALL disco would eventually sound like this...didn't happen, with disco splintering into other music forms in the 80's...no matter, there's still plenty of music left over from my era!
what I need are more titles i might've missed the first time around. these are the examples i mean:

    rock your body-202 machine

    megatron man-patrick cowley

    livin' up-b.w.h.

    come inside-fancy (9:00 mins mix)
    immortals-warlord

    i feel love/midnight shift/queen for a day-donna summer

love now, hurt later/the chase-giorgio moroder

    follow me-amanda lear

    magnifique-magnifique

    moscow diskow-telex

I realize some people **really hate**
this type of disco( too cold/mechanical/drones on and on, no soul, too druggy.) yet the dancefloors always got crowded whenever these songs played; so SOMEONE must agree with me...IT'S GOOD STUFF!!

    thanks

Don't forget "Now I Need You" from Donna Summer's Once Upon a Time lp. It's one of my favorites from her. To me, it sounds as current today as it did in 77.

    Some others;
    Love Machine - Claudja Barry
The entire Black Devil lp - sounds much more synthy new wave than disco.
Automatic Lover - Sylvia, or Dee D. Jackson
Take a Chance - Queen Samantha
You Make Me Feel, Body Strong, I Who Have Nothing - Sylvester (and a ton of his 80's work...)
    Shock - Angel Face

A great synth/dance tune to check out is Hilary's Kinetic (maybe 81 or 82.) It's on the New Wave side of dance & it's great. You can check it out here:

Gino Soccio: Outline (entire LP, especially "The Visitors" and "Dancer")

    Anything by Kebekelektrik

Carolyne Bernier: Secret Agent Love (weak vocals but good track)

Paul Parker: Right On Target(Patrick Cowley production)

Try the "Magic Fly " LP by Space, some of the first music of this type I remember listening to, check out "Tango in Space" "Carry on , turn me on" and of course the original version of "Magic Fly".

    Re: synth-heavy disco

I'm not too crazy about the synth-heavy disco stuff, which is why I don't like a lot of the euro stuff from the late 70s. But some of my favourite synth heavy tracks are:

    Giorgio Moroder - The Chase
Claudja Barry - Boogie Woogie Dancin Shoes
    ORS - Moonboots
    Revanche - Music Man LP
MFSB - Mysteries Of The World
Galaxis - Space Ranger (this I've only seen on that Hot Productions 'Best of Lollipop Records' compilation)
Karen Silver - Make Me Feel Alright

If you like synth-heavy disco, the better type is american hi-nrg, italo & german or 80's euro-disco. And there MANY sites on the web about this subject. Just try searching at Google and you will find a lot with artists, biographies, discographies, etc...

We know that this "particular chapter" of the DISCO history is underground, mostly unheard with unknown music (if compared to the original 70's disco movement). The funny thing is : if you search the web, there are more sites about italo and euro disco than 70's disco itself.

I'll second this one, as well the rest of Gino's great "Face To Face" album..

Also really loving Patrick Cowley's Menergy (The Fusion Album) a lot lately, especially "X-Factor".

Also Hott City - Feelin' Love. Not quite as heavy as the others listed, but very spacey and futuristic sounding..

Check out from 1978 "Dancer Dance" by Pussyfoot (130 bpm) on EMI, think strong " I Feel love" influence....

Any Anthony Monn production like you quoted (amanda lear, magnifique, ORS...)
Rockets - "Space Rock" remixed by Tom Moulton (1978)

of course cerrone's productions like Brigade Mondaine LP
    moroder - Midnight Express LP

electronic sounds meets rock/new wave sometime.
