    LaSo - "LaSo Square"

Is this song damn near impossible to get your hands on or what? Does anyone else remember it? I've been scouring flea markets and street fairs in NYC for the longest time now and I've found other lost 12" classics, but have yet to stumble across this one.

I remember it from a very long time ago, and I doubt no radio station has played it in years. For those who remember it, what did you think of it?

Incidentally I went to see Joe Bataan who sang on it live on stage last month and kept screaming "Laso Square! Laso Square!!!" at him, to no avail. I think I got his attention for a second, though. We did get other disco-ey songs plus Joe&his wife doing what looked like a combination of salsa and hustle moves, but not a beat of Laso Square, his best track apart from "La Botella".

OMG, he's still performing!! I can't believe he didn't do LaSo Square... that's incredible. In fact, I know him best for that song. :o

This is a record I found years ago in a thrift store. Listened to it once - like halfway - and put in storage. It had no appeal for me. Now that I see this record being mentioned more than once on the forum, it sparked an interest to take the record out for a second listen..

maybe if they would of released an instrumental version I would spin it again, I just find the vocals.. well.. irritating.

    Back in storage it goes.

Just when you thought it was all over - no, no, no

I also dug up this LP and gave it a fresh spin, I even found the single ( any others ? ) off this LP “Another star”, a Latin flavored instrumental cover of Steve Wonder’s hit with a great sax/flute solo perfect for today's "smooth jazz" stations and definetely the best cut off this LP. Interesting to hear Jocelyn Brown here, but I don’t remember much ‘Buzz” over this LP BITD even though I still bought it, didn’t I ??:p

    Did it ever chart????

I suspect that “Laso Square” new found audience has to do in part with the fact that this type of music is non-existent today, back then many recording of this type that may have found new appeal today were just lost in the glut of “better” material. I enjoyed spinning it again, but to me “Laso Square” still sounds like a very good “wedding party” record. And I mean it in a good way

PS: Doen't it sounds similar to a big 60's AM radio hit? "Are you readyyyy..." Which one is it???
