What or who is this 12" by?

    I found a 12" the other day.
Its on Carrere records 1979 I think the group is called Discotheqe.
Side A is called Intro Disco which is a medley of hits and side B is called Disco Special.
Produced by F.Goya and Bart van de Lear.
Do any members know anything about this 12"?

Intro Disco was a pain in many a derriere in 1979, a stop-go medley of introductions of sorts from pop hits, never beginning nor ending. There's an album as well, not too difficult to locate at least in the nordic countries as it was indeed a sizeable club hit here among the less demanding dancers. The bits of well known songs the record lists are too brief to really form a tune, the whole endless-seeming affair seems too choppy. I can still hear the yawns of my mates as the dj went into Intro Disco. But then again, we hated Veronique unlimited's "What kind of dance is This" back then, and we all love it now. Maybe I should check out Intro, thanks for reminding me! :-)

This is a pretty bad 12", so if you're planning on dropping some money on it (more than $1), save it. I thought the flip to the medley was okay, sort of a mid-tempo funker, but it's still weak. I believe it was a Quebec Canada production.

I have this as well, don't know if it's the 12" or the LP, but I think it's pretty dire. Mind you, I've never been a fan of 4-bars-from-a-bunch-of-hits megamixes, not even The Ritchie Family's "Best Disco In Town". It's music for people with severe attention deficit disorder, if you ask me.

I think it was a European production... my copy (only one I've ever seen) was a French import.

It was largely spinned here in Italy in the summer of 79. The B side was used by some famous italian dj like Mozart and Baldelli (and myself)

YES IT'S THE B SIDE THAT WAS PLAYED, WHICH IS QUITE SLEAZY, NOT THE HORRENDOUS MEDLEY SIDE. BIG FOR ME AS WELL BACK IN THE DAY, AND APPARENTLY SEEING PLAY AGAIN FROM DJ HARVEY AND OTHERS, AS IT OCCASIONALLY GOES FOR BIG $$ ON EBAY.

I posted it in the vault many months ago and it surprises me that somebody knows it! It was the first of "pre-stars on 45" outputs and it cleverly avoids author rights by covering the Disco classics BITD.

    It's amusing, nothing more..nothing less:D BTW, it's a 100% Belgian production ;-)

    Don't blame me, blame him

Francis Goya is mainly known as a guitarplayer, style "Concerto For Aranjuez". What got him into the studio and go Disco-medley is a mystery as great as the Pyramid of Gizeh!
