And I hope she tells everything, at least the most important facts about been a superstar during disco era.
Cheers,
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly reports that Donna Summer's autobiography will be published next year. Not much info was given other than it will be published on the Random House imprint Villard.
But at least now we know why we haven't heard any new music from her....

Cheers,
Wasn't Donna in the process of writing a play called "Ordinary Girl"?? I have her "Live And More Encore" CD from 1999, and she talked about it for a song she sang on the CD called "My Life".

Yes, Robbie: Donna has been talking about her musical "Ordinary Girl" for yeeeeears. When I saw her in New York in 1998, she did two songs from the show and, as you know, she did one on her most recent live LP.
There was even a tour announced, perhaps back in 1999 or 2000 (I can't remember for sure) and I was keeping my eye on the dates "to be announced" in Ohio and Toronto, but the tour was eventually canceled due to lack of funding and/or interest.
Most recently the show was put on the back burner while Donna was supposed to be working on a new album for Sony. So now there are TWO projects that you have to wonder if we're ever gonna see!

Uh, I HATE to be, uh, negative (hee hee hee), especially in regards to Her Majesty Donna...but the stuff I heard from her musical, sounded pretty lame or, maybe I should say, just routine/mediocre--you pick the adjective-- sorry to say.

Please, Marky--as if having mediocre material ever stopped a musical/film/TV show/etc. from getting made. You know that better than anyone!
And yes, it is SO unlike you to be negative, you little fucking ray of sunshine.
\"...a once in a lifetime feeling that returns every week...\"
LOL, Jeffy.
This "fucking little ray of sunshine" is only trying to "protect" Miss Summer from the slings and arrows of mean critics who are gonna trash her. Now, granted, I only heard a song or two ( Oprah, I'm thinking, was one place) BUT they did NOT grab my attention. They were "fast forward" moments. I'm just trying to spare the DIVA the embarassment suffered by Paul Simon and countless others. Trying to get a new Broadway musical mounted is one of the most difficult endeavors in show biz. So few succeed that unless you've got a surefire hit or can provide a large part of the financing yourself--it ain't never gonna happen. Donna could do it in a regional theater, BUT even that hasn't happened.
I'm NOT doubting her talent--BUT if she collaborated with Giorgio and Pete Bellotte, I'd feel more confident. Speaking of which, I once posted back in my early days here that Giorgio was collaborating with a German named Michael Kunze (?) on a stage version of "Flashdance". Now the German guy's name was the same as the writer/producer of Silver Convention. Could it be the same guy or his son or just another Kunze???
Ooooh, that sounds "naaasty": "Just Another Kunze", indeed!!!!

Markydefad--
I agree with you about Donna's musical. If it were slated for Off or Off-Off Broadway performances, it would have a better shot. Have it set in a small, intimate theater. I heard one of the songs "My Life" (I mentioned this already), and it sounds like it could've been a hit song in '79. Not original enough for Broadway but would work well in a smaller venue.

Donna was supposed to record a new CD for Sony Records back in 2000 as she was signed to the label..and a few months ago I spoke to someone I know that works there and her name isn't even on their roster.....any updates on what happened there? or is she going to save that for the book?
I just hope she tells some truth in the book. I just read Billie Holiday's autobiography and man, it's obvious there's some fabrication...
And she could be so bitchy! Every single time the name of Sarah Vaughan comes up you know there's a reason, and it comes up yes sir... And Ella Fitzgerald isn't even named once!
Of course it's a good book. And the first paragraph is a killer. I goes something like this: "My parents were very young when they married. Mom was sixteen, Dad was eighteen, and I was three years old". That's what I call a beginning...
