Has anybody listened to the Norman Jay show on BBC radio London,He plays a fantastic mix of quality old disco and soul along with the choicest new stuff. The show can be heard every Sunday at 8 UK Time, and can also be heard on the net. i know this message sounds like an advert but Norman really blows me away with QUALITY he plays.

Couldn't agree with you more Nice to see someone recognising his talents on this Board!!

Norman Jay is a brilliant UK DJ, and the show is essential listening as well. Many a time, I have sat there in front of my hi-fi with the record button at the ready. The best thing about Norman Jay is, apart from the brilliant music he plays, is the respect he has for his audience. He is an intelligent DJ and treats his audience thus.

Some of the 60's and 70's rare groove stuff he has picked out over the last few years has been really inspirational. The best rare groove DJ there is in the UK..

Hey Funky Dude, WATCH OUT, 'coz Norman Jay is rather partial to Australia, and spends quite a lot of time gigging in your part of the world!!

Also on BBC London Live is Peter Young (PY) -Thursday/Friday midnight - 2.00am. He picks out really fabulous funk gems, and plays the best of today's soul and funk. Brilliant show.

And don't forget Greg Edwards on Jazz FM Friday nights 10pm - 1 am. Unmissable show.

And there is old Tony Blackburn with his weekday soul show on Capital Gold 8pm - 10pm as well for the summer - until the footie is back!!

Since I have been into soul and funk (over 25 years now) there has always been good music available on the UK airwaves - if you know where to find it.

ALthough I'd heard a fair bit of jazz funk during the late 80s, when Jazz FM started it was like a big door opening before my eyes..

I remember the time Mike Chadwick played loads of Azymuth tunes like "Faca De Conta" and "Falcon Love Call" back in 93...

prior to that show all I'd heard was the Mastercuts series and a few Herbie, Deodato, Ramsey Lewis and Billy Cobham Lps really.. wicked.
