Da devil seems to be very active in Europe these days. Thje Union Of Greek Scientists, The Tower Of Piraeus and The Centre For Coördination Of Hellenic Activities have filed an official complaint against the Finish contestants, Hard Rock pastiche "Lordi", who enter todays Eurosong Contest in Athens/Greece.
With their "Hard Rock Hallelujah" they "glorify Satanism and they undermine the foundations of Greek and European culture!"
Jussik, you have some explanation to do!!!
The song is not that bad actually and the group's outfit is a strange mix of Gwar, Kiss and Manowar.

Well, all I can say the Turkish woman should have won, she had everything it takes to shine like a true SUPERSTAR!
Every year it's the same old thing - the Cypriots vote for Greece, Croatia votes for Bosnnia, the Swedes vote for Denmark, and no-one votes for the UK or Israel! The Lithuanian song (We won Eurovision) was the best p*ss take in the history of the competition - only us Brits and the Irish saw the irony behind it - I thought the Finnish enttry was great - I thought it was ironic but soon realised they were deadly serious in an interview. Apparently the UK put up half the money for this competition - it is good value!!

Yes, that surprised me too! I thought they would continue in a sort of Spinal Tap mode but Mr. Lordi was indeed very serious about Rock and its victory.Originally Written by Headlamp
So I think they really are not a joke but they want to be a superband like Kiss.
And now I wonder....after winning the high celebration of Kitsch 'n Camp, will they be accepted by the Hard Rock audiences???? Will they be taken serious or will they be booed when they play at f.i. the Monsters Of Rockfestival????
....you already know what tunes are going to emerge next year - lots of Eastern European countries doing 'Hard Rock' - hell, I might even persuade my son and his Punk band to enter! They'd do better than that chav and that rubbish school tune of his!!

Turkey is not a part of Europe; why do they take part in Eurovision to begin with?Originally Written by JussiK
"Everyone knows the real reason why you got that part it was the time you spent on that casting couch"--Antoine Merriwether
"Excuse me, Miss Thing, but both of us spent time on that couch"--Blaine Edwards
As there was so much make-up it was difficult to see the tongues in the cheeks of the band members - they've always wanted to be a "hard rock act with a sense of humour". Giving dead serious interviews to respected foreign newspapers is part of the juvenile and act. Last week they claimed to be newborn christians, ugly but humble servants of the lord, etc. Will they be accepted by the hard rock audiences - who knows how the minds of those people work? :-)Originally Written by Videoskooter
Couldn't agree with you more Jussik. I really liked the Turkish song, and the babe singing it. Nice breasts and tatoos. Also, you don't have to be part of Europe to enter. You just have to be a member of Eurovision.Originally Written by JussiK

Sh**!!!
I'm at work looking at these pix y'know? You coulda got me in big trouble. ;)
Mmmm. She's not a real blonde eh?
Salsoul, Turkey, as are Israel, are members of the European Broadcasting Corporation or something like that.
Unfortunately, it become a little of a political farce and giving the whole of Europe a chance to vote has opened up the floodgates.
Ahhh, I still listen to the Severine toon from 1971.
I'm still waiting for that Spanish entry; Loads of clapping, castanetes, stamping and plenty of 'If looks could kill!' FAB!
That's funny! When we had our preselections in Belgium, it was very close between Kate Ryan's "Je t'adore" and Spanish-Belgian girl Belle Perez with "El mundo sta bailando".
There was a big discussion going on if Belgium could send a Spanish song to the contest and press and public decided that this would be very strange and that it would not be successful:-o
Now that you mention it-what would have happened if we had sent Belle:icon_mrgreen:
