    The blasphemous DaVinci Code

    *****

    Go figure ..... .....

    Seems Christians are
once again hysterical about something , this time another movie .....
What's most odd is that the folks
that are now upset about the premise of THE DA VINCI CODE .... are the same ones who think the line "God created Adam & Eve: not Adam & Steve " ... is so darn clever.
    ( so , I'm still wondering BTW ... just who did create all the Adam & Steves , then ? ;-) ) ,

Ironically, it seems that the bone of contention here .... this impossibly outrageous inference that they're so repulsed by .... is that Jesus may have liked ....... & heaven forbid , I guess ..... women !! :o

Now I know the sacred writings clearly lay it out that he preferred hanging out with the guys ... but still we should keep an open mind here. I mean maybe he shared some private but never documented moments with the ladies too ...

Sorry to shock the straight and narrow .... but despite all holy evidence to the contrary , even I am willing to give the guy some leadway on this one !!!

I enjoyed the book very much and found the concept quite fascinating. As far as the marriage angle, the ancient scriptures that were unearthed in the Egyptian desert make several references to the possibility of Jesus being married. In fact, during those times it would have been unusual for a man not to have been married by his age.

Will watch this movie next week.

Bernie, I just got a furious call from Pat Robertson. He is not amused by this thread!

Remicks, you sinner. You do da work of da Déviiil !!!!! You have a very hot future. VERY HOT, I say!!!!

The pic however was slashed by the Cannes-critics and public but yesterday it premiered in Belgium and it seems to be a blockbuster. Most sold tickets since 1 of the Harry Potters.

You see folks, Da Vinci Code and Harry Potter. Belgium is ruled by Satanic powers.

If a pic of Satan appears here after I logged out, it's too late brothers and sisters and you all have to blame Remicks for it!!

......Do you think that Jesus himself may be as upset by these careless accusations ? ..... Hmmm... maybe so much so that he'll decide that now is finally the time for his return .... to save his reputation and put to rest these filthy rumours about his liking women once and for all ;) !!!!

I enjoyed the book a great deal and decided to ignore the critics on this one So I went to see it opening day....I really enjoyed the movie. Of couse Ian Mckellan chewing scenery left and right was a big plus. I actually left the theater wondering if the critics and I had seen the same movie.

Maybe it is the right time for Him to come back. The world is a little bit turning upside down and moving in the wrong directions. Maybe He can fix it????

BTW, I will definitely see that movie. I haven't read the book(I never, ever read fiction) but I've read some scientific works on the subject of the Holy Grail, meaning the marriage and the descendants and the connections with Da Vinci's work and it really got me curious.

I think there's a lot to discover about the Bible and I also think (long before the hype) that the Church is hiding certain things. Years ago the Vatican already admitted that Maria Magdalena was not a prostitute and now they are changing their views on Judas.

BTW (2): I have a very ancient copy of the Holy Book. A version that's in our family for decades and it's a version that is forbidden. It's full of sex and violence and the Bible that's taught in schools and distributed by f.e. the Gideons is a very polished version of the original thing.

So that's the real story behind the Dan Brown stuff. A lot of covering up ;-)

For those of you who read the book and saw the movie, did the movie live up to your expectations?

I read the book and saw the movie and I would say it met my expectations. Well worth seeing despite what some are saying.

    Re: The blasphemous DaVinci Code

All the fuss is lost on me. Both books--The DaVinci Code and The Bible--are works of fiction, right?

Relax, believers: I'm not saying that parts of The Bible aren't valid. I'd like to believe that the stories of Jesus and the lessons he tried to teach are legit. But much of what's in The Bible is mythology not unlike what the Greeks, Romans, Nords, Egyptians, etc. passed down. Who's to say there's no Zeus or Thor? The Christian myths are just the ones that stuck with the greatest number (or the loudest) of people, for whatever reason.

And I don't believe for a second that the original text wasn't tampered with over the centuries by the powers that be, to keep the flock in line, to keep them donating to the church, whatever.

Cynical about organized religion...? Who, me...??!

And Jeff, if you were to examine the Jesus stories one has to suspect his very existence. The earliest known writings came about 100 years after his death. Strange for someone who is described to have such profound abilities? Even those writing have come into question.
Anyway I love the stories and this atheist supports the essence of what Jesus is suppose to represent. 8)
