Hi friends, I´d like to open this topic to talk about bands of today who make disco or disco funk in the way we all know, with live musicians and no machines, people who want to transmit the spirit and the soul of the seventies in their music.
I want to talk about two bands in Spain, they are based on Barcelona, one is called Fundación Tony Manero, first time that I listened to this band it was on the radio I thought that it was MFSB in a live concert, the track that I was listening was "Sexy" and when the song finished I heard the name of the band and I was surprised that this could exist. they are fourteen musicians and people enjoy a lot in their live performances. The band is still together making their second album.
They have a site http://www.fundaciontonymanero.com.
The second band, that I didn´t heard by now is "Enlace funk", a band who has made an album in the studio with thirty musicians, also with a string ensemble. They make disco funk, as in the Tony Manero´s site you can see.
I hope to know more of others bands in the world making this music that we love.
Many thanx for this info and links ,i will look into it...........RU
**Dreamin\' about those disco lights**
I have the Fundacion Tony Manero CD and it's quite intriguing for the reason it is a live session of old classics. But I think I like it mostly because they play classic tracks. Today's dance music, like it or not, is made by computers.
And I recently saw, with my horror, a young DJ playing music in a beach disco bar without any record or CD consolle!!!!
I went looking closer and he was using a portable laptop, playing music from the hard disc and mixing it with a self mixing program.............
i was searchin for Fundacion Tony Manero results in this forum and found this!
What saborioca means is the song "supersexy girl" which was released in 2001 http://www.youtube.com/v/PS5zshNRvLo and became famous by a car advertisement. As i said in spanish disco thread u can visit their site (now in english! and more languages!!!:icon_biggrin:) Fundación Tony Manero
Enlace Funk is a magazine about funk which began being just a fanzine and has becoime THE funkzine in Spain! very very respected! from Madrid to the whole country! they also celebrated their 10th aniversary , as the FTM band. That's the reason why they release now a 7" with each number instead of a dj mix recorded on a CD, what they used to do. but they're not a band.
that's all i can say about it.
Do you know about more funk bands? better if they play disco-funk! just like FTM! :icon_mrgreen:
PS: i see the user who started this thread is from Spain!!! wanted to say hello to anybody from here in this community! there's anybody still writing in this board from my country?
OH!!! i forgot to tell you about our brothers!!! This is a band from the other side of the sea singin in spanish and english, and i'm a big fan of them, as much as with FTM, they're REALLY GOOD! i'm talking about LOS AMIGOS INVISIBLES!!! They play funk with some latin in it (They're from Venezuela) and they got some disco funk stuff!!!

Los Amigos Invisibles [The Invisible Friends] mix elements from Funk, Disco, Acid Jazz, Latin American ryhthms and, in this case, Flamenco guitar. Here a sample from his album "Super Pop Venezuela", produced by DJ Dimitri from Paris.
