    Recent music films

    Last April we had a new edition of Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, the second since I joined their staff. Being that I had something to do with the movies picked for our music section, I list them here in case someone's interested:

    Don't forget IBERIA by Carlos Saura (2005), an non-narrative film of flamenco performances. The styles shown vary from traditional to street/hiphop, and the visual style is absolutely stunning. Dancers glide across the frame solo or in formations, against single colored canvases, sometimes red, green or flaming orange, sometimes alive with the performer's image, projected in a second's delay and creating a strange dreamlike effect. Was there any sense in the Oscars committee this film would have gained 1st prize in every single gategory.
