Great news indeed. La Toya's first three albums in particular are forgotten gems. Of course, I like the subsequent ones as well. :D
Let's hope reissues of My Special Love (personal favorite) and Heart Don't Lie are soon to follow!
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but La Toya's debut album has been remastered and is out on CD next week - 15th May. Amazon.co.uk & .com has listed it, so its definitely happening.
I really like it, it features all sorts of collaborations from a duet with Michael Jackson, to harmonica by Stevie Wonder, with tracks written by Billy Ocean and Michael, Patrice Rushen plays keyboards, and Ray Parker Jnr plays the guitar, most notably on the single 'If You Feel The Funk'. Janet Jackson and La Toya wrote a song for the album to. It's well worth checking out.

I'll do my best not to be negative or mean, as I try to follow the rule "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." I've only heard one of her songs ("Such a Wicked Love") and I liked it. But really, to say she's not as distinctive a vocalist as certain other members of her musical family is putting it mildly, and the fact that ANY of her music is being released on CD while far more (in my opinion at least) worthwhile music is still unavailable on CD or only available on questionable-quality or expensive CDs is almost a crime.
Toy's fans are very organised and determined and that counts for a lot when your trying to get the music you want released. I don't deny that there's a lot of albums that are overlooked when it comes to re-issues, but sadly its all down to making money. The Japansese 1992 CD issue of her debut can top $200 on eBay every time its up for auction, and that's what clinched the deal when getting a label to support it.
Here's a promotional music video I made for this remaster, its for the lead single 'If You Feel The Funk':

lol great promo video latifaheaston! :D
I must admit, with miss Toy Toy being my personal favourite Jackson (and guilty pleasure), I'm actually looking forward to getting this.. The prices that those long OOP Japanese reissues command were really getting ridiculous..
*feels the funk*
Neonlights, I got a few copies today through the post and I must say it exceeded even my own expectations, its just so nicely done and the sound is excellent. My old rips were great, but they've done an excellent job - it sounds better than ever. Fingers crossed for 'My Special Love' before the end of the year!!! Hope you are well btw.
