Good grief...got me
*****
Here are most of Donna Summer's Casablanca years USA singles .... in the order they were released .
Now the question is ... in what order would these be ranked if they were listed in order of actual sales ???
1) -- LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY
2) -- COULD IT BE MAGIC
3) -- TRY ME . I KNOW .....
4) -- CAN'T WE JUST SIT DOWN AND TALK IT OVER
5) -- I FEEL LOVE
6) -- LOVE'S UNKIND
7) -- SPRING AFFAIR
8. ) - I LOVE YOU
9) -- LAST DANCE
10) - MACARTHUR PARK
11) - HEAVEN KNOWS
12) - HOT STUFF
13) - BAD GIRLS
14) - DIM ALL THE LIGHTS
15) - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
16) - ON THE RADIO
17) - WALK AWAY
First step :
Which song by Donna Summer outsold the rest ?? :-?
????
*****
Good grief...got me
 i try...
1 Hot Stuff
2 Bad Girls
3 McArthur Park
4 Love to Love You Baby
5 Last Dance
6 Heaven Knows
7 I Feel Love
8 No More Tears
9 Dim All The Light
10 On The Radio
11 Walk Away
12 Could It Be Magic
13 Try Me I Know We Can Make It
14 Spring Affair
15 I Love You
16 Can't We Just Sit Down...
and I thing Love's Unkind was more popular in Europa and was outsold
This is my perception of Donna's sales from #1 to #16:

Last Dance
No More Tears
Dim All The Light
On The Radio
MacArthur Park
Try Me I Know We Can Make It

here's my stab at it

6 No more tears
7 Last Dance
8 Dim all the lights
9 On the radio

13 Love's unkind

You're all on the right track in your orders !
Shenkin's got the TOP THREE correct .
1) BAD GIRLS and
-- HOT STUFF tie for Donna's best ......
each went triple platinum (!!!) ; each selling 3.2 million copies
making Neil a very rich man ....
next was
2) MACARTHUR PARK
2.8 million in sales
no one has the next song , the #3 song pegged right .....
??? .....
*****
*****
Seond step ...... work our way up from the bottom .... the least selling.
Shenkin ..... starts off this end of the list correctly as well .
LOVES UNKIND sold 0.4 million copies
CAN'T WE JUST SIT DOWN & ..... sold 0.6 million copies
but I LOVE YOU is not the next one up in sales ....
Its three others of Donna's songs that come next , tying by selling 0.7 million copies each :
___________ ???
and
___________ ???
and
___________ ???
????
next three from the bottom maybe :
Walk Away, Love's Unkind and Try Me I Know We Can Make It ? And on # 3 Last Dance ?
*****
TRY ME , I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT
is one of the three that sold 0.7 million copies .
LOVE'S UNKIND .... you already correctly placed at the very bottom !!
Odd , for a record that sold 0.4 million copies, ... I've never come across one of them ....
LAST DANCE is not Donna's next biggest one after MACARTHUR PARK ......:(
( hint: It was a #1 record )
*****
If next song was #1 hit and it's not I Feel Love( Disco1999 put it on # 1 and it's was wrong answer)- we have only one song - No More Tears !
I make mistake - one more time put Love's Unkind in next level,I mean Spring Affair and Could It Be Magic
*****
Shenkin , mistakes are inexcusable !!
.... but while we're at it ..........
whoops  .....
LOVE'S UNKIND is still the lowest selling Donna Summer single , but I now realize it ties with another one: COULD IT BE MAGIC
Both sold 0.4 million copies .
Top:
1) BAD GIRLS 3.2 million
HOT STUFFF 3.2 million
2) MACARTHUR PARK 2.8 million
3) ENOUGH IS ENOUGH 1.8 million

****
Bottom:
TRY ME , I KNOW WE CAN MAKE IT 0.7 million
CAN'T WE JUST SIT DOWN & TALK IT OVER 0.6 million
LOVE'S UNKIND 0.4 million
COULD IT BE MAGIC 0.4 million
There --- that's the proper order so far . SPRING AFFAIR sold more than 0.7 million
*****
1) -- bad girls, hot stuff
2) -- macauthur's park
3) -- enough is enough
4) -- love to love you baby
5) -- last dance
6) --i feel love
7) -- heaven knows
8.) - on the radio
9) -- dim all the lights
10) - spring affair
11) - i love you
12) - walk away
13) - try me i know we can make it
14) -can't we just sit down
15) - love's unkind
16) - could it be magic

TOTAL NUMBER DONNA SUMMER SINGLES SERVED :
………………………………........................ 24.1 million
(There is a catch to this though ......I can't guarantee how reliable these figures actually are …..
I got them from sonicplayer.net/articles/Donna_Summer last August ......
I don't know why, but when I returned to the site recently , this information was no longer there ….. ...... ?)

Sorry .... ..... but upon further review ..... I doubt these figures are correct.
I see their info has been updated .... including eliminating the original assertion that SUNSET PEOPLE charted at #39 in the US ..... a hard feat to accomplish since it was never released as a US single ....
The suggestion that I FEEL LOVE sold 1.4 million and CAN'T WE JUST SIT sold 0.6 million is hard to reconcile , since these are A and B sides of the same single......
This must be why the info has been removed from the page :
http://www.sonicplayer.net/articles/Donna_Summer
which otherwise now contains still interesting info .....

remicks,
well there is a chart book by Fred Bronson that does have the Top 20 Donna Summer records in it, among other lists. I bought it yesterday--but forgot to bring it to work. However, the top of the list is exactly the same as the one you posted.....doesn't list the tunes at the bottom (this is based on Billboard charting--not just SALES...so......
I'll be back.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
"The Top 20 Songs of DONNA SUMMER"
(according to Billboard's Hottest Hot 100 Hits book)
1) HOT STUFF
2) BAD GIRLS
3) MacARTHUR PARK
4) NO MORE TEARS (ENOUGH IS ENOUGH)
5) LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY
6) DIM ALL THE LIGHTS
7) SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY
8. LAST DANCE
9) THE WANDERER
10) HEAVEN KNOWS
11) I FEEL LOVE
12) ON THE RADIO
13) LOVE IS IN CONTROL (FINGER ON THE TRIGGER)
14) THIS TIME I KNOW IT'S FOR REAL
15) THERE GOES MY BABY
16) THE WOMAN IN ME
17) COLD LOVE
18. WALK AWAY
19) I LOVE YOU
20) STATE OF INDEPENDENCE
(slanted towards the latter work after she became a star, obviously....she didn't get much radio play between "Love To Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love"....mostly clubplay for the great stuff released between those two)

Thanks for that info Marky .
I wish there had been a book at Borders that reveals actual sales of these and other songs.
That I FEEL LOVE is not even in Donna's Top 10 is a sad commentary. So far ahead of its time, that one . Nothin' ..... I mean nothin' like it . A radical , music-changing record.
meanwhile how embarrassing to see THE WANDERER above it and in the TOP 10. :( Has that song even once been played anywhere by anyone since ..... never on the radio that's for sure .....
Just look at that list of hits .....nevermind all those additional ones that were exclusive to us clubbers.
Gots ta love Donna !! ..... Her hit list speaks for itself
