It's Eastern! We are still freezing here. Lots of rain, lots of strong winds. I'm sick of this weather. The customers stay away and I'm becoming a grumpy ol' man. (I already was a dirty ol' man).

I'm serious, if this doesn't change, I WILL revive the "We are freeeezing, and you" topic again!

Is there really such a thing as "Earthquake Weather"? Many years ago I worked for a company based in Santa Clara. The folks out there were divided on the whole Earthquake Weather thing. Some swore by it, others said it was just lore.

Here in NYC we very occasionally get small earthquakes, barely felt and very low on the Richter Scale. BUT the last one felt on Staten Island (about 10 years ago) where I live was preceded by every dog in the neighborhood barking at once. I though someone (like a burglar) was running through the backyards which would be a pretty good trick because we all have 6' fences. At that very moment I felt a slight rumble which I thought was a big truck going by. Thought nothing of it until I later read in the local paper said we had a minor quake at that very moment.

Got up to 77°F (25ºC) in NYC today, cooler tomorrow, near 63°F (17ºC). We had a backwards winter this year. It was warmer in January than in February or early March.

Well, I don't know how much science there is to the term "Earthquake Weather". I suppose it's just a term we Cali folk use to describe such wishy washy weather. Although I can tell you when the doggies in my neighborhood start to barking, I don't think it's a stranger hopping fences anymore...chances are it's coyotes. Ever since I moved out of the more mid-city (rough) side of town, things are quite different. Many here though can peg when earthquakes are going to start happening. And I'm sure were due for some shakin' 8)

Lina, there may be something to this. When I lived in Boston 20 years ago, I worked with a guy that just moved there from 'frisco. One afternoon he told us it felt like earthquake weather. Well you guessed it, the region experienced one of those rare earthquakes that day. I still remember that incident today.

don't believe it! .....Take it from someone who just two years ago bounced through a huge 6.9 earthquake . Totally wiped out buildings and roads and opened up a new hot springs in the middle of town !.... For me it was lots of broken glass and then there were my poor records !! The quake yanked and twisted my metal record shelves , totally collapsing them and tossing all my records into one massive heap . Such a sight !
I can assure you, weatherwise it was like any other morning until ....."oh ****!! "

Then came the many many aftershocks 5.0 and stronger at any time, in all types of weather, all times of day .... This was the period where one slept in their pants .... well because ....at any moment I'd have to bolt outside.

Even today the recurring quake dreams return ..so I wake up and wonder .... quake .... or dream or both ??? our latest series was ten days ago .... about five of them ... the stongest .. a 3.4

When on the computer I occassionally go to our earthquake report especially if I feel a toss while sitting here...

Trust me .... there is NO warning!!!

and you never close your eyes , when shampooing naked in the shower, with the same degree of confidence again ....
