Newbie needs help finding more quality disco!!!

Hi all, new to this forum and looking for some help....

over the past year or so I have been discovering disco (was too young the first time round) and would like some suggestions on more stuff to listen to.

these are some of my favourite tunes so far, I would really appreciate if you could recommend some other things I might like, based on these:

    Diana Ross - The Boss
Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
Jackie Moore - This Time Baby
Cheryl Lynn - Got to be Real
Inner City - Caught Up in one night love affairs
Stephanie Mills - Never Knew Love Like this Before
Geraldine Hunt - Can't Fake the Feeling

Sooo.....I guess it's mainly female vocalists I like....and certainly vocal tracks rather than instrumentals, with a somewhat "modern" sound if that makes sense.....your help would be great!!!

and with Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

Machine There But For The Grace Of God

Bonnie Pointer Heaven Must Of Sent You

    First Choice Doctor Love
    Let No Man Put Asunder
explore the whole realm of First Choice

and since you mentioned Stephanie Mills, add

    Sweet Sensation
    You Can Get Over
    Put Your Body In it

    Cher Take Me Home

All of these have radio versions but look for the longer versions.

I only went with what was popular for these acts. You only listed popular songs, so it's always a good place to start. Check out the site and look at the disco lists.

I would buy compilations or CDs of these artists that you like. There are several Stephanie Mills compilation CDs out there. I would reccomend the best of on Mercury from 1995 or the new Gold double disc set from Universal masters which spans both her Mercury and MCA years.
Other female artists or groups with songs in this vein are
    1) Unlimited Touch-I hear music in the street, Love exlosion, Searching to find the one
    2)Sharon Redd-Can you handle it
    3) Phyllis Hyman-You know how to love me, Under your spell
    4) Patrice Rushen-Haven't you heard, Feels so real
    5) Melba Moore-Love's comin at atch, Fallin'

All of these artists have multiple best of's and many have original albums on CD that are in print. Search online because some Cds are slightly obscure and your local retailer may only carry current stuff.

If you like newer stuff, try Karyn White, Ann G, D'atra Hicks, Tene Williams, Chantay Savage, Tawatha (Agee from Mtume), Loose Ends (also featured mostly female vocals).

Any of the late 70s/early 80s stuff coming out on Solar should work well too. Dynasty, Shalamar, Midnight Star (pre 1983), Carrie Lucas, Whispers, Collage ect..

Also seek out some early Skyy and Starpoint
