    Task Manager is disabled???

My task manager is disabled. I am running XP Professional and a dell inspiron 5150 lap top. I believe it is a virus because task manager does work in safe mode. I used both stop sign, adware, and norton and it did not detect the virus. When click on systems and go to ctl alt dlt options and enable it nothing happens. I am not sure what do? I will try to do anything before reformating because that is long and tedious with the amount of stuff I have on the laptop. Thanks!

    Hi Mixtape,

You could try and check if the policy to remove the taskmanager has been set

You have to look in the registry or via gpedit.msc see here for howto :

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555480/en-us or here

Maybe it is not a virus, has it worked at a given time ?
If it is a company laptop the administrator maybe locked it down ?
The best things in life are free :-)
