Cover versions of Jefferson Airplane - Somebody To Love

Hi all. I've heard on radio at work a couple of years ago a techno/dance song "Somebody To Love" by the Boogie Pimps and have also heard the original Jefferson Airplane version which to my opinion made a great 60s dance rock track.

Anyhow I was wondering if there was ever a 70s disco cover version of this song?

There sure was. Believe it or not, the Salsoul Orchestra released a disco version in 1979. It's on their LP "Street Sense", and Tom Moulton made a mix that apparently got released as a 7".

I love the original for its great power, and yes, it does have a driving beat that adds to its appeal for me.

If I rightly recall there was also an 80's more HI- NRG version by a group called Cafe Society, I think it might have come out on the proto label in the UK around about 1983/4. I suspect that the Boogie Pimps version was influenced by that.
