I shall compile my own list!!! But it requires some research. Glad to see "Promise me" was included.
I read online that Luther has an LP from 1977 on Cottilion that's supposed to be decent. Any opinions on this one?

Umm..... I love Luther, but....Originally Written by eddie
That album on Cottilion was horrible IMO, it was self titled, and it was a group, they went under the name "Luther" it was him,
G. Diane Sumler
Anthony Hinton
Theresa V. Reed
Christine Wiltshire
7 tracks, and believe me I wanted to like this LP, lol But I didn't find any of the tracks appealing. :-? He wrote and produced all the songs, and maybe this was his 1st attempt at doing so. But hey, you gotta start somewhere, :) and we all know where his career went after this, so it's all good 8)
i would have added...
Change - Searching
and as a stretch...David Bowie - Young Americans
What about 'Hot Butterfly' Greg Diamond's Bionic Boogie. Oh yes, he's on that as well!
Amungst many others!!!!!
He also has backing vocal credits on a Chic album or two.
Disco Funk
it's called "This Close to You" (he later did the title song again when he produced Aretha Franklin). The album has Nile Rodgers and many fine musicians but the songs don't have strong melodies. I only bought it because I figured it would be valuable one day. By the way, am I the only one wondering why so far there has not been a televised tribute musical show devoted to Luther's music? BIG mystery; many lesser artists have had such shows already.. I'd also be kind of curious to know what people thought of Luther's pasted together duet with Frank Sinatra ("The Lady is a Tramp"). I'd never heard his voice in that "jazzy" a context before. He recorded many times with Quincy Jones but much of that music is more Rand B oriented.
