Its definitely not Philly, but I can't tell if it is or isn't Philly-pino (i.e. Please) because their accents are pretty strong on their records. But the snare drum sounds like the snare on Sing A Simple Song. Maybe it was a song they did outside of the two LPs?
It's weird - the echo on the track makes it sound recent. Was that added by the person who recorded this track for you? Where did you come across it?

THE LYRICS (so short and simple)

I remember those good ol kinda days
when we were together
the love we shared and the sweet things you said
won't you please try and listen
It is hard on my ????
Oh baby i was trying so hard
in every way to make you stay
I've been lost since you've been gone
hungry for everything
and I know baby I know
you won't be baaaaaaack
Ohoh baby I'm so lonely
I'll never be happy
???? baby life is just nothing,
but memories of you
I've been lost since you've been gone
hungry for everything
and I know baby I know
you won't be baaaaaaack
Ohoh baby I'm so lonely
I'll never be happy
my baby life is just nothing,
but memories of you
I've been lost since you've been gone awayyyyyyyyyyyy
This song was given to me with a title called PHOTOGRAPH (now I know that wasn't right) because I collect QUIETSTORM from the 70's 80's & today! The person told me the group(All I hear is a single voice) was PLEASE but the 2 albums I have by them don't even sound familiar!!! And because it sounds familiar like THE STYLISTICS I said it may be Philly Sound!!! I am loosing my mind over that song........................that is what I know for sure !!!!!

I don't have the song ID'd or single, but I found a copy of a non-LP single called Brazil/I've Done You Wrong. It was produced by Frank Dostal and released in 1975. This would have before they did the Manilla Thriller album with Mike Vernon. Brazil sounds like a copycat version of the Ritchie Family tune (done Please style), and the B sound is a Chi-Lites-like vocal track, peppered with the same falsetto as in your audio clip. The drums also have that awful reverb like in your sample. So my guess is that they recorded a bunch of non-LP singles, unless there's a third album between the self-titled and Manilla Thriller, which I doubt. The 45 doesn't even say 'taken from the LP....'
