    Junk Shop Booty

Picked up this lot of 12" singles mid morning, from a local shop in the small town where I live :D

    Gaz - Sing Sing
Inner City Express - Shu Dig Dancin / Fat On Funk
    Fantastic Four - BYOF
    T-Connection - On Fire
    Arpeggio - Love & Desire
    Carol Douglas - Burnin
Goody Goody - #1 Dee Jay
Richard T Bear - Sunshine Hotel
Mystic Merlin - Just Can't Get Enough Of You (always loved this)
Switch - We Like To Party
    Foxy - Get Off
    Martyn Ford - Happy People
SOS Band - Do It Now
Bunny Sigler - By The Way You Dance
    Eddie Henderson - Prance On
    Con-Funk-Shun - Chase Me
Eddie Horan - Turn My World Back Around
Machine - There But For The Grace...
    Musique - Summer Love
    The Jacksons - Enjoy Yourself
Hudson People - Trip To Your Mind (Original Hithouse label and what is it about this tune that it commands such high prices on Ebay?)
    Hamilton Bohannon - Cut Loose
    Musique - In The Bush

and the best thing is, the shop keeper is expecting more in tomorrow from the same house clearance

Nice selection. My faves would be the Gaz, Bunny Sigler, and Musique tracks, although I don't recall them releasing a Summer Love 12"! Is it remixed like In The Bush and Keep on Jumpin'? I've got the In The Bush/Keep On Jumpin 12", which is cool. I don't think I'll ever get tired of In The Bush. Its not the lyrics that appeal to me. It's the instrumentation, especially the slightly ringing bass drum, and the tight percussion.

Disco Funk - The 12" is called Summer Love on the A Side, but Summer Love's Theme (mixed by Francois K) on the flip. 1978 and pure disco delight, in the vein of Love Unlimited productions!

    Nice record :)

See I'm just the opposite of you, I never get tired of Keep on Jumpin... :)

To the original poster, I wish I could find such gems. Especially the Bunny Sigler tune. *sigh*

Don't you just love it when that happens? I don't think I've ever stumbled across so much bounty at once but even discovering the odd one or two makes my day.

I picked up that 'In The Bush/Keep On Jumpin' ' 12" for 50p the other week! :D :D

That's incredible! :o I've just about given up looking for records in shops, as you're very unlikely to find anything. Was it a charity shop that you found all that stuff in?

    It was a UK-only release.

Just played the Musique track again and now it's bugging me!!!

There's a light riff (piano?) which sounds like it's been sampled elsewhere - possibly a hi-nrg tune?

Grrr - gonna wind me up now till I track down the other record

Went back this morning and came back with this lot (with a promise to return those I didn't like AND then pay) good ol local shop keepers ;)

Peoples Choice - We Got The Rhythm (LP)
Al Hudson & PArtners - If You Feel Like Dancin
Francine McGee - Feelin Good / Delirium (awesome B Side!!)
    MFSB - TSOP (LP)
Al Hudson & The Soul Partners - Dance Get Down (Feel The Groove)
Rose Royce - Ooh Boy (was this covered recently?) / What You Waitin For (Bloody hell, this track is fat n funky and my fave out of this lot) :)
Samuel Johnathan Johnson - You / My Music
Rokotto - Funk Theory / Get On Down
Al Hudson (again) - Spread Love / Love Me Forever
Coachhouse Rhythm Section - Time Warp (Eddy Grant at the controls from 1977) nice tune

And...........he's still waiting on more to come in :P

Although I did pitch it down (-6) and personally thought it sounded better :-?

Wow, some good tunes in there - I thought I had the only copy of Samuel Johnathan Johnson - You / My Music in the UK, as no-one has heard of it before!! If it's not a rude question how much are you paying for this little lot?

You did very well!! Sounds like a (good) private collection that someone's decided to get rid of, as opposed to a DJ. (There'd be more) - Francine McGhee hasn't come up on EBay for a while recently - although Hudson People does - the UK remix on Ensign seems more popular & consistently goes for £35.

    Heya Headlamp :)

According to the shop bloke, it's actually a woman's collection, being sold as she's moving house & out of the area.

I'm keepin me fingers crossed she does actually return with more (as he promised earlier in the week) altho he's got my mobile number so I can have first look

It is actually a small 2nd hand record shop here in town, but he doesn't really know his stuff, other than the obvious of course (Beatles, Stones etc)

    Lucky for me :P

Those are the best kind. I have a few people who call me when they get hold of 12 inches. I get a lot for $1 or$2 per record.

In fact, I would really have to want the record to pay more than that. If a seller is asking for over $5, I usually walk away. And sooner or later, I can find it cheaper in a thrift shop or flea market.

I've done several trips in the 2nd hand stores of Brussels recently and I was disappointed! Since Disco is making a comeback in Belgium, the records are selling fast AND the retailers know that they can raise prices :(

Now me and a bunch of friends have formed the "Old Vinyl Squad"!

We make lists and distribute them in the gang and so everybody is searching for the whole group. Not a bad method
