Welcome to the forum! :D
Mick Jackson was actually being discussed fairly recently, here:

I'm new to the disco scene - I've been here a few times and just decided to join - I was listening to a 1978 broadcast of WBLS in New York and heard Mick Jackson's Weekend. I loved it! I haven't heard you guys talk about it before. Was it not a hit? It seems very catchy. Or did it get lost because of all of the records at the time?
Just wondering... And if it did get lost - what other great songs are out there?

Welcome brycecam.
You know, I always get the "Weekend" songs mixed up no matter how many times some of you might of told me. Is Micks the one that goes:
Weekend
I jump into my Chevrolet
Weekend
Exciting nights and lazy days
Anyway, the key to knowing what you missed is your age.
Check this out for the titles, esp in the first 200 for gems you may have missed.

Thanks darrens.
How funny. I heard this song once back in 79 or so, fell in love with it and never heard it again. Never could find out who did it.
I recently stumbled across it & thought "hmmmm I wonder if it's THAT song..." It's always so great when you uncover something you've have so little info on & have been searching for, for years.
I recently found that Wet Willie did a cover of it too. Very faithful, can hardly tell the difference between the two.
Here's a Wet Willie album cover that may wet your willie.![]()

I remember that song also... I believe it was on Atco/Cotillion 12" cause I picked up a copy. It didn't show action on the disco chart.

Hey everyone thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I will definitely be more active on the site. I've been coming here for a while but always felt that I didn't know enough to actually take part (I was born a few years too late for the disco era). But at least I know that even if I don't know that much you guys are still willing to share the knowledge that you have. Thanks.

This record is a keystone in the Atlantic and associated labels discography since it was released with two different labels:Originally Written by efunk_adelic

Nice tune, although I prefer the chorus lines and the second half of the song. the intro felt kind of laboured to me![]()
Just saw that there's a documentary about Mick Jackson on Channel 4 in the UK on the 26th Feb 2010 at 7.30pm called "The Other Michael Jackson". Sounds very interesting....
There's some more info on Mick's site and on the Channel 4 site...
