The HUGE, revamped old Palladium was one of the few totally successful club spaces, designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki to suggest man's rise from the depths of the ocean into the halls of divinity. Famed 80's artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat contributed to the look with huge murals. The inner sanctum was the Mike Todd room, I still have my special admission card, shaped like a pyramid. As for the music, the times I went it was a nice mix of then-current dance hits, disco classics and quirky boogie tracks like "Marcia Baila" by Les Rita Mitsouko. The Mike Todd room had it's own sound system, with more fashionably ecletic playlist.
