British media is reporting that David Caruso, Forest Hills native and ''CSI" star, has been chomping down carbohydrates to gain more than 60 pounds in order to resemble famed singer Elton John in an upcoming movie about the pop star’s life.

“We’re thrilled to have such a brilliant performer portray Sir Elton,” David Furnish, the veteran songwriter’s long-time partner, told an English newspaper. “We’re almost certain he’ll do a great job in capturing Sir Elton’s immenseness.”

The film will explore some touchy aspects of John’s life, including a fistfight he had with fellow singer George Michael, who reportedly plays himself in the movie version. In fact, the movie has been held up in production for more than two years pending approval from John himself.

For more than nine months, Caruso has been eating hefty bowls of pasta and bread to add the needed weight.

Let’s just hope Caruso can take off the pounds, otherwise "CSI" could take on a different meaning: Can’t Squeeze Inside (pants, doors, etc.).
