2#1 songs from same eve session: King Floyd/GROOVE ME &?

    *****

    Amazing story this one ..........

The label Malaco went to New Orleans in 1970 seeking new talent. In one evening they allowed a handful of acts to record their voices over already prepared instrumental tracks ........

One of those turned out to be King Floyd's mega -hit GROOVE ME 8)

but that was not the only mega-hit #1 tune put into the can that Sunday night . There was another.

    What was it ???
    :-?

Are you saying they just made the songs up on the spot??? Here's an instrumental track--just imporvise some words??? I find that hard to believe--those songs stand the test of time.

Very good DD, epecially considering neither song dented the charts in the UK .....

I know Marky this story ... I really found incredible .... listening to such patent wonderments of music ..... it seems hard to imagine that these classics came about in this fashion ... these two remarkable tunes pumped out in one night .... particularly since they are both quite different from each other . ( Has anyone not familair with this story , ever thought to associate these two songs with each other ? :-? )

( BTW ....To clarify .... these songs were not recorded in New Orleans ...... ..... MALACO brought up these four acts they'd found in New Orleans by bus to give them each their turn in their studio in Jackson Mississippi .... That Sunday night, May 17th, 1970 ...... it was the turns for Jean Knight and King Floyd . )

The week before , the men of Malaco , cut the instrumental tracks for the four acts .
"We did two sides each" says Tommy Couch ...Malaco studio owner .
WHAT OUR LOVE NEEDS and GROOVE ME were the two tracks assigned to King Floyd .

Jean Knight's MR. BIG STUFF credits Joe Brouissand , Ralph Williams , and Carroll Washinton as the writers ....no credit to Jean Knight

But GROOVE ME credits one writer ......... and that's King Floyd .... so he must have come up with the song for that track that night ..... in the studio .... 8)

But .... that's not telling even half of it ..... there's much more to this that makes this whole tale even more amazing :) :o ....... Wait'll you hear the rest of the story .....

    to be cont'd ..........
