Are you thinking of "Lovin' You" by Minnie Riperton?
"Lovin' you is easy cause you're beautiful......
I have heard Roberta Flack - "Lovin' you" (5min29) come by every now and again on www.oldschool.nl and I really like it. I looked on GEMM and could not find it. Was this an album track, or a 12"? Would appreciate any help.

No, I am definitely not thinking of that sugary song by Minnie Ripperton... This is funky, sounds like late 70's or early 80's. Not a Mtume/Lucas song. Wonder if anyone knows it.
Maarten,
This might be the one :
From the Roberta Flack discograpy:
MCA 51173 - Lovin' You (Is Such An Easy Thang To Do) / Hittin' Me Where It Hurts – 1981
Peter aka DJ-Pir
Thanks - that sounds like the one! The search is on :-)
Hi Maarten,
the reason why the song is so difficult to find is that it was not included on one of her regular albums. Instead it was featured on the soundtrack album of 'Bustin' loose' in 1981.
Best regards

Munich
'Hittin' Me Where It Hurts" is a killer sleaze tune--shoulda been extended fro max dance floor pleasure... :D :D :D :D
Hey Karl - do you know if the "Bustin Loose" soundtrack album contains the long version (5:29)? Or should I be hunting down a 12"?
Hey Marky!
The soundtrack does have the (5:29) version of "Lovin' You" - BTW I've never seen the 12" release of it anywhere.Hey Karl - do you know if the "Bustin Loose" soundtrack album contains the long version (5:29)? Or should I be hunting down a 12"?
Thanks - now I know what to look for!
I am listening now to the "Lovin you" track from Roberta Flack's "Bustin' loose" soundtrack album. It is easy to see why it is such a great track: Marcus Miller wrote, played keys and bass, and Luther Vandross sings backing (with others).
I was surprised to see Roberta Flack also credited as playing horns. And of course as singer and keyboardist. On top of that she produced the whole album as well. I have always thought that Roberta Flack was this sweet balladeer... but this album funks at times!
According to my BBC Movie bible the movie, written and produced by Richard Prior (RIP) took two years to make because half way through mr. Prior had a drug induced near death accident... The movie is about an ex convict helping a teacher and a bunch of kids find a rural retreat... a sweet rom/com that, according to said bible, works because of Prior.
Case closed... and another track "done" from my wanted list!
