Hi folks, what's your most favourite label? I mean the label that most fit the disco atmosphere?!? To me it's Prelude... don't know why but I think is the best matching to disco. Probably because of the dancefloor on it. Another one that breathes disco era is Columbia red label "Disco Single"!!!
Third maybe.... Salsoul Records.
What about your feelings?
People all over the world, It\'s time for love & understanding, Come together!!

If you buy this record your life, will be better.
If I knew nothing about the record, I'd take a chance and buy almost anything on the T.K. Disco label. I loved their sound and they had a pretty high quality level.
Also, Casablanca, Salsoul and Philadelphia International have to be mentioned. Very excellent quality levels from those labels also.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hard to narrow it down to just one. There was so much good output from many labels that it would have to be a draw between TK, Salsoul and Prelude, Polydor and the Warner family of labels.

this great record company had artist ranging from james brown to visage.
polydore records
DISCO
The word evokes not just a type of music or a kind of dance or even a style of dress.It\'s also a new social order of black and white, gay and straight, rich and poor, all hot, sweaty and, most likely, high, together.
Salsoul Records is my favorite label.
Columbia Records & its affiliates are up next.
Toss up between T.K. Disco, Marlin & Casablanca. Prelude Records followed by Polydor Records.
Vanguard & West End Records are honored also.

In order of preference:
Label nº 1: AVI RECORDS (in spite of the awful sound of its vinyls)
nº2 SALSOUL RECORDS
nº3 TK
My 3 are Polydor, TK and Prelude.
Find them and destroy them!
Mine would be Marlin, Casablanca, and AVI... although Butterfly and Salsoul would also figure high on the list.
Probably TK/Marlin, Casablanca and Salsoul, in that order.

In terms of 12", I would have to go with West End Records, SAM and Prelude for the artists they had.
In terms of visually appealing I would go with Prelude, Salsoul and Solar (and I like all three for their artists, too!!)

Oh! Graham is right!!!!!!!!
I forgot to mention BUTTERFLY RECORDS!
By the way... I am listening right now to the new SWING OUT SISTER ALBUM (SOMEWHERE DEEP IN THE NIGHT).
It is one of the best albums i've heard in my life.... It has nothing to do with disco, but it is a very adult kind of pop music... miles away from the pop and rock stupid music of today...
I recommend this album to all of you who are into intelligent music
Bye
I'll have to go with Salsoul, Prelude and Casablanca. Does anyone remember BUDDHA records?
*DISCO DELIGHT*
I do. I remember my older sister's record collection from the 60s and early 70s that featured many great soul artist from that label. One that comes to mind if I'm not mistaken is The Five Stairsteps, known for "Ooh Child."On 2002-08-04 02:35, HustleBaby wrote:

Buddah (now known as Buddha-don't ask me why) had a nice roster of artists: Melba Moore, Andrea True Connection, early Phyllis Hyman, The Five Stairsteps (who later became Invisible Man's Band with "All Night Thing") They went out of business in the late 1970's or were absorbed into another label--was it Arista????
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Up above, stands the HOLY TRINITY OF DISCO:
Salsoul, Prelude, West End
Then the GUARDIAN ANGELS OF DISCO:
TK, Casablanca, Atlantic (what a libido the yellow label DSKO!), 20th Century, Arista, Buddah, Columbia, RCA, Sam, Red Greg, Elektra, Solar, Motown, Capitol, Mercury (wonderful promos with picture cover), and on and on and on again.......I'm so in love with this music!!!!!!!!!!!

You da man. First, I didn't know The Five Stairsteps became The Invisible Man's Band.
Considering how much I want "All Night Thing", seems like a strange but nice coincidence. Good job Marky. If you were a woman I'd drive to LA and personally thank you
Find them and destroy them!
Tall Paul: (Gawd, am I "dating" myself--that's an Annette Funicello tune from my "youth")
I mentioned that factoid cause I knew you were always mentioning "All Night Thing".
Now that song is on a CD I have in front of me titled 'The Last Party" a 1997 CD inspired by the book "The Last Party: Studio 54, Disco and The Culture Of The Night". Yes, I know a CD inspired by a book????!!!!!
Unfortunately, the CD is a non-stop mix. "All Night Thing" is the second track between "Busting Out" by Material w/Nona Hendryx and "Let's Start the Dance Part 2' by Bohannon. I timed it at 4:51. Check allmusic.com for the rest of the tracks. It's on Island and is a good compilation with Was Not Was, Lipps Inc., Village People, Patrick Juvet, Don Armando's Second Avenue Rhumba Band, Evelyn King, Santa Esmeralda, Third World, Grace Jones, Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, Chic, Donna Summer, and Kid Creole & the Coconuts filling out the rest of the tracks.
I have timed them myself, if you want the timings--CAUSE they're NOT listed on the CD.
They range from 2:47 to 6:54--most in the 5:00 range.

Paul,
I totally forgot that I recently found the Invisible Man's Band LP at Amoeba for $1.99. The LP track of "All Night Thing" is 6:20. I don't have a 12"--but I think it has an instrumental on the flip side. If you want vinyl, I'll try to find one for you.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Thanks Marky. Did already say you da man
Yes, I would most definitely be interested in the vinyl. If you happen to come across it let me know. Thanks.

My favourite disco label is Salsoul, followed by TK records.
Hmm . Not very original I'm afraid ..
But I will give a special mention to BANG records - where did they get these names from?
If it moves - funk it!!
My fave labels are:
Salsoul
Prelude
Stax (Soul/Funk)
Peace![]()
SENHORES DO GROOVE - BRAZIL
In no particular order:
Butterfly - (Jt Connection, StTropez, Grand Tour, Tuxedo Junction were the best)
Casablanca (Popular stuff - but good)
Parachute - (sub label of Casablanca but featured Liquid Gold (goose bumps)!!
Polydor - (Cerrone, Don Ray were the best here)
Prelude - (very large selection of very good groups)
SAM (for the John Davis stuff)
Salsoul - (SO, Charo, Hot Chocolate)
TK etal (Voyage, BB, too many to list)
Plus...ANYTHING mixed by TM
Some of note:
Atlantic - Midnite Rhythm
Coloumbia - DH/LH, Patrick Hernandez, Melba Moore and Jackie Moore were on this label
Time to quit...
I don't know if you would consider this in the Disco era but I like the "streetwise" label, they had artist like Freez (I.O.U.), New Order's (Confusion),Rockers Revenge (walking on sunshine, harder they come harder they fall),Nairobe's (Funkysoul Mikossa)and I also love the "sugarhill" label(Wrappers delight, gonna get along without you now, Apache, eigth wonder,Dance Make your body move, etc..)
