    Ecstasy, Passion & Pain

Hello Again! :) One of my favorite 70s disco songs was Ecstasy, Passion & Pain's "Touch & Go"! What a classic!!!!!! But even better, I really, really preferred their smaller hit, "One Beautiful Day." I could play that over and over and never tire of it! Unfortunately, I only have the vinyl 45 version of "One Beautiful Day". Was this song offered on a longer version via album or disco single? Was "One Beautiful Day" big at the discos? (I only remember hearing it played on American Bandstand... ) Also, is Ecstasy, Passion & Pain available on CD?
    Thanks!

P.S. Who was the lead singer of this group? She was GREAT!!!!
Super underrated! I think she could have been HUGE under the right management.

    E. P. & P.

    Hello Mario:

Ecstasy, Passion & Pain is also one of my favorite groups. "Good things don't last forever" is among my three favorities "all time" songs, besides "Where do we go from here" - Trammps and "Got to get you back" - Sons of Robin Stone.

But, back to Ecstasy, Passion & Pain. They have two CD's. One is the complete first LP, plus additional tracks. The second CD is the first LP, plus many additional songs that were to be released on their second LP. This second LP was never released before this CD, as far as I know.

    On Amazon they are:

    Ecstasy, Passion & Pain:
    Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K. | Amazon-Germany | Amazon-France

Good Things (The Roulette Recordings 1973-1977):
    Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K. | Amazon-Germany | Amazon-France

Cheers, ("Hasta la vista baby", which is in spanish, although I speak "brazilian" portuguese)

that first cd is available for 10.99 elsewhere online. Google it and you'll find it. Add Barbara Roy to your search, she's the lead singer.

I love Ecstasy Passion & Pain's Roulette stuff (I haven't checked out their later releases). A prime example of Philly Soul Disco. As for One Beautiful Day, I think it was a Single Only release, without any extended version. Touch & Go is the one track I've seen various mixes for. There's the 5 minute club mix, there's a 4 minute mix (it's on one of the volumes of Jumpin') and then there's the awesome 8 minute mix from the 80s by Tom Moulton. The accapella mix has also appeared on CD, on the Roulette disco compilation (I can't remember the exact name).

Aside from the two already mentioned (I wish that "Good Things" set was still in print), there was a new reissue of their album this past Aug. 2005; sixteen tracks and through EMI UK. Both Amazon UK and Amazon US have it.

This is interesting, because I just bought the re-issue of Angela Bofill's "Something About You" LP and the liner notes stated she did a brief stint with Ecstasy, Passion and Pain. Does anyone know if she recorded with them, or did she just perform with them. If she recorded with them, I'd love to find the recording since she is one of my favorite singers.

By the way, this probably should be in a seperate thread, but Angela recently had a stroke and was hospitalized. She will have to undergo physical and voice therapy and has no insurance. Such a shame that someone with a talent like hers is struggling.

Here you go --- and under $10.00.

I knew I found this last year. "One Beautiful Day" is track 14 on this CD. It runs 2:57. :)

And Bernie can tell you --- my number one choice for 'disco song' on his lists is "Ask Me". Yes, that's right, before Cerrone, Midney, Don Ray and all my 'Euro Gods'. :D

You should listen to "Dancing The Night Away" also by the same artist. It's not as good as "Touch and Go", but it sticks out like a sore thumb for me because it reminds me of a Candi Staton song.

The disco vibe is strong tonight !! I was just going to come back here and mention that another wonderfiul thing about E, P & P .... was the thoughtful lyrics and storytelling found within their songs ..... sort of like ..... Candi Staton. :D

I'm also thinking that the themes in the songs ties in with the reason for the selection for the group's name
    ( high drama !!)....

the only time you come around ,
is everytime some girl has put you down ...rat a tat tat tat tat tat ....

I always really liked Barbara Roy's 1981 track 'If You Want Me'. Is anyone else familiar with this too? Very different to the 70s 'EPP' stuff but still really strong disco/funk track IMO. :P

BTW, so sad to hear that news of Angela Bofill; she's one of my favourite artists. I've got most of her LPs/CDs, even her more recent releases.
