Kiss - I was made for lovin' you.
Here's one for you. Name some disco/soul/funk tunes put out by groups or artists more known for rock music.
1) John Valenti - why don't we fall in love, an album track on a mainly rock album.
Kiss - I was made for lovin' you.
Street Player - Chicago
Take Me Home - Cher
If You're In Love with a Beautiful Woman - Dr Hook
Another One Bites the Dust - Queen
Let's Dance - David Bowie
Lots of tunes by the Bee Gees (no way a Funk/Soul/Disco band)

I agree. They weren't just a pop rock group. They could cross-over into funk and soul. Sure, it wasn't James Brown, Kool & The Gang funk, but songs like 'Boogie Child' were funky, and 'You Should Be Dancing' is one of the top well-crafted dance songs of the disco era.Originally Written by SandraDee
Disco Funk
This a difficult one & I can see how anyone can view the Bee Gees as a Disco band. However I can't & the reason why - probably the same as why I struggle with someone like Madonna being a Disco/Dance act....it's an emotional reaction, and what I'd call soul or Mojo...on 99% of their music which they performed it just doesn't do it for me - the one acception is You Should Be Dancing, so consequently I just don't see them as a Disco/Soul/Funk bandOriginally Written by Disco Funk
I am with Headlamp on this one, after all the BGs would never of gone all disco/soul untill old Mr. Stigwood told them to do so.
As for the soul/disco artists that the Gibbs produced, well any one of them has enough soul/emotion to spare some
But I will say the boys could craft a good danceable tune or two!
I remembered a couple more:
Makes You Blind - The Glitter Band
Don't Stop The Music - Bay City Rollers
Lowdown - Boz Scaggs
One of These Nights - The Eagles (Tom Bell-ish tom tom beat)
Are You Ready For Love - Elton John (he did a whole bunch of tunes in Philadelphia with Thom Bell).
LOL! When looking on the internet for other examples, I came across this thread:

Disco Funk
I did not find that thread when starting this one! But looking at some of the 'suggestions' I think some people have an odd idea about disco, some are pure rock/pop songs.
Been playing this tune out and about over the last part of 2005, and people over here in the UK love it, it is considerd by some to be Jazzfunk!Makes You Blind - The Glitter Band
8)
The Clash - Rock The Casbah
Sexy Eyes - Dr Hook (this is my favourite track by them - too bad no extended mix!)
Magnificent Seven/Dance - The Clash
Disco Funk
The Doors - The Ghost Song (Strange Track)
Bryan Adams - Let me Take You Dancing
Ian Dury - Spasticus Austicus
I LOOOVE IT.Makes You Blind - The Glitter Band
Michel Polnareff - Lipstick
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Hollywood (Pure P-Funk)
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle
Toto - Georgy Porgy
I know this is an older thread, But I just had to include:
Sarah Smile - Hall & Oats
Baby Come Back - Player
Lowdown - Boz Skaggs
Almost anything from the "Aja" album - Steely Dan
Right Place, Wrong Time - Dr.John
Woman To Woman - Joe Cocker (Dr.Dre used this sample for Tupac's "California Love")
There are more
**Funk Is It's Own Reward**
Hall & Oates - I think we can throw on 'I Can't Go For That'. That track was sweet and funky, and from '81.
Also:
Exile - Never Gonna Stop
America - Slow Down
Area Code 615 (a country rock group) - Stone Fox Chase
Poco - Nobody's Fool
Titanic - Rain 2000, Macumba
There was some mention of Tony Orlando & Dawn doing an early proto-disco track on the other board. I forgot the name of the track.
Disco Funk
For me the greatest ever rock disco track has to be the Doobie Brothers "What a fool believes" the Jim Burgess mix . About 3 years ago while working in a record shop .a U.S Dj who was on a local club that night came in and asked for it.I seem to remember it was Timmy Regisford. He expected me to pull it from beneath the counter. DOOOH.
There's another Doobie Brothers remix iv'e remembered "Long train running" it came out here in the early 90's it's called the Ramp Guitar Mix its supposed to be a House mix but i use it a Disco set.
