looks like they get better u.k t.v.guides in tel aviv
looks like this is a series tonight was glam rock, i missed the first 20 minutes but this was really good with great old footage so the disco next week looks really promising probibly only going to featute about 6 acts but will be in depth, fingers crossed :P
back to the glam it said that this stuff never really took off in the u.s :o you mean they never got slade or sweet :o you just HAVE to be reminded from time to time just how outrageous and camp living through this period really was
for one reason or another gary glitter never showed tonight![]()
Just seen it & although it was a bit shallow & some of the facts were dodgy I have to say it was better than many other tv shows about disco that I've seen over the years. I loved the rare clips that I haven't seen before like Sylvester (with the 2 tons of course) doing 'Cant Stop Dancing' & him being interviewed on Joan Rivers' show in an orange wig & Donna Summer doing 'Last Dance'. Also the people interviewed were 'firsts' e.g. Pattie Brooks, Jeannie Tracy, Vince Montana (he looks just like my Uncle Gordon!) & Ashford & Simpson (I was in Heaven! :P ). This cynical, miserable disco lover was cheered up & thoroughly entertained for an hour! :o :P (& Sylvester's mum looked good didn't she? How old must she be?)
I've seen it too, and liked it a lot!
Wasn't that Randy Jones ( the cowboy from the Village people) presenting some kind award or something...??
I hadn't seen actual images from the Disco demolition night in Chigago, but now I have!
The lady's were:
Gloria Gaynor,
Donna Summer,
Sylvester (?)
Chaka Khan,
Grace Jones,
Madonna.
Several of the sequences with Sylvester performing were filmed at London's old Embassy club (which was owned by the guy who went on to create the Heaven club). They used to do a great buffet on Sunday nights, and you could then dance it off over the next few hours!

DAMN....Missed it...Is it repeated ?
