    Jose Feliciano considered funk/soul artist

"Jose is one of the greatest guitarists of this century. Blind from birth and originally from Puerto Rico, he was the second of 12 children. He grew up in Spanish Harlem. He had a big hit in 1968 with his soulful remake of "Light My Fire," which peaked at number three on the charts. BNG Japan has reissued some of his stuff, and this album contains a cover of Stevie's "Golden Lady." The track is the bomb! I just love it too much! Jose hasn't been around lately. His music's now kind of classified as underground, but if you saw the movie "Fargo," he was in it playing a part. To describe his music is kind of difficult. A mix of soul, Latin and Funk with English and Spanish lyrics. Try his stuff, you might really dig it!"

Here it's rumoured that this guy (which I will not mention) was a "piedra". That means, a person who brings bad luck ("mufa") to those who happen to be close to him. That's a common belief in showbiz (maybe as some kind of vendetta, who knows) and this artist had to cope with it for decades.

I always wondered if the Coens did know this when they sent Buscemi to see him in concert in the movie. Right after that, it's all downhill for Steve's character! :o

I have always liked Jose Feliciano. His music was all over the radio in '69 - '70. Then his music "disappeared" from air-play virtually overnight and little has been heard of him since (still actively composing and playing). What happened to Jose Feliciano is a great example of just how nefarious the record industry is.
