    Quinny Question

Dear Q, I read in your profile that you are a recording engineer.

Maybe you've posted this already but I wondered, have you worked on many records? Do we know any of them? Dance, Rock, Pop, MOR.

Just curious and BTW this is not intended to invade your privacy. If you want to stay vague on this subject, I respect that.

I'm an ex-recording engineer right now. I gave it up in readiness for my move.

Never worked with many famous people, although there's been the odd few that have had a modicum of fame in their specific genres. However, the bulk of my work was mostly local Jazz artists, choirs, language courses and the like and all my recordings were done on location, NOT in a studio.

Q, I read in a recent post of you that someone stole your work for a Sylvester-remix. Did you do remixes for artists (famous or not famous)?

Hopefully Fuerteventura, otherwise Lanzarote followed by Tenerife. Depends if things work out the way we have them planned. Too many variables at the moment.

The track was issued by Domino Records as the Housey Housey mix of Do You Wanna Funk, by Sylvester featuring Patrick Cowley. It wasn't so much that it was stolen from us, just that the guy who was commissioned to do the remix and myself (we spent about 17 hours on it) didn't get any credits on the label (so far as I remember). It wasn't a remix in the truest sense of the word. What we did was lay heavy electronic drums over the original and I added a piano solo to make it sound vaguely 'Housey'. I remember spending hours and hours just trying to get the new drums to sync with the reel to reel master tape. Definitely a case of doing small sections and editing back together.
It was a thrill to work with the original 2 track master knowing who had been involved with it.
