This has been discussed before and if I remember correctly the discussion went on for several pages. Let me look for it and see if I can find it. I never finished reading all of the responses.
Well, $95 plus $2.49 shipping and handling.
The order was for Tawatha's Welcome to my dream CD from 1987.
Gemm and Ebay has no listings and when this one came up, I jumped on it. Haven't played it yet but didn't want vinyl copy and figured I was short-changing myself by not getting it. I had "No more tears" on compilation but which was the only track I was familiar with.

For me I'm pretty sure it was the Diana Ross "Surrender" album on cd, issued in the early 90s (?). I think it was something like 50 pounds, could be more though.
However, I spent wayy more for rare Madonna promos and rare items ;)
85 Euros for 2 Prince bootlegs: "Prince live in the Hague" (awesome live-album) and the "Chocolate box" with versions of later released songs but way way better versions.
If you can ever find it, "We can funk" is divine, the version on "Grafitti Bridge" is bollocks!
So, they were worth it.
A few years back, I payed close to $80 Canadian for a sealed copy of Grace Jones' "Fame" CD..
Prince's Black album before it was officially released by a major label. I felt like I was doing something really naughty, but now that his music seems so mainstream I'd glad I have this reminder of when he was still edgy. I tried to listen to it kind of casually and one lyric in one of the songs really grabbed by ear: the lyric said "I hate to see an erection go to waste......."
Fame was released on CD? I only saw Portfolio. Was it an official release from Island or Universal or a bootleg using a vinyl source?Originally Written by neonlights
Personally, the most I've paid is around the $40 to $50 range for the Rozaa & Wine 12" 'Disco Boogie Woman'. The highest I've ever bid on anything, though, was a 10 record set of the first volumes of Disconet. I think I bid close to $300 US, but didn't end up winning.

A serious "collector" never discuss this subject. :)
I'm not..
I payed $30 plus $18!!! shipping and handling for Disconet release of Abba-Lay all your love.
Yeah, it was definitely an official release. It was on Universal's (or rather PolyGram's as it was then) UK budget label Karussell/Spectrum. I submitted the CD info to the main site a little while back (http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/3540_0_3_0_C/).. Was released 1993, but has been long out of print, it seems. I'm certain they used the original masters, since the sound quality is excellent; crystal clear and at a pretty good volume too..Originally Written by Disco Funk
