Club #16 is the Anvil. Nicky can help you with any info you need on that club.
Three months ago I bought Albert Goldman's book "Disco". The book is included 22 pictures from clubs, but without inscription.
I have create and publish a website with scans of this pictures.
http://www.hotdiscomix.de/stars_clubs/clubs/clubs.htm
I have interest to the complete club name, the address, the active years, the names of Resident-DJs and other informations; e.g. whether it was a gay- or a straight-club, was it a membership-club, as popular it was.
I was born and raised in East-Germany therefore I could never these clubs experience.

Hi HotDiscoMix,
I'm trying to gather a little more info for you on The Anvil (# 16). It closed after I left so I'll get the year and the names of other dj's who came after me. Also, # 19 is most likely The Eagles Nest. Again, details escape me so I can't even confirm the address as 142 West Side Hwy or 142 W. 19th Street. I'll check.
#13: The 'original' Limelight, 7th Avenue off Sheridan Square, New York City.
#17: The 'new' Limelight (strong guess).

Hi Jack, NickNack, nrgbeat:
thanks that you share your memories with me
I like this "timetunnel-feeling" into a world which I never experienced. I know only some club stories (e.g. over Xenon, Infinity, Falmingo etc.) from a German Radio-Discoshow in late 70's and early 80's.
I updated my website daily with your newest informations.
A friend told me the "Palladium" 1998 torn off and now stands on this place a student hotel/dorm. Is that correct?
hotdiscomix.de :: The World Of Disco/Dance Music
Steffen
yes, the palladium was torn down n is now a dorm for NYU. The building was "Luchows" restaurant originally, one of the most famous in all of NYC at the turn of the century, and a model for the restaurant in "Hello Dolly" .....when the restaurant closed { 70's i believe } it became concert hall "Academy of Music" where Lou Reeds Rock n Roll animal was recorded....then in about 1981 or so became a gay bar for minute...then became the Palladium in mid eighties.
Thanks Jack,
I guess you live already some time in New York and was active member of the disco era.
With each new answer new questions develop
Were Disconet's famous medley mixer Mike Arato, John Matarazzo & Raul A. Rodriguez also New Yorker DJs and if yes, in which clubs?
In which clubs played Rick Gianatos ?
He is the founder of the first Remix Service "Disco Queen" (1975-78), two years before Disconet started.
I have a idea for Club #20:
Infinity, 653 Broadway (between 3rd & Bleecker Street)
Who can say, YES that is it !
I found the address in the book "The Last Party".

I got a new hint![]()
Club #17 should be Francis Grasso's "The Sanctuary", 407 West 43rd Street at Ninth Avenue.
It is now an Off-Broadway theatre "The WestSide Theatre" which has been running the popular "Vagina Monologues" since 1999.
Who knows this building and can the hint confirm?
