Sorry if this has already been discussed but I Just wondered if someone could explain to me what exactly HARD HOUSE is ?
I must admit I only listen to dance music from the 70`s/80`s and Im not very "clued up" on the more modern forms of dance music. I do like the early house music from the late 80`s but I dont have much of a clue when it comes to the many forms of house that has surfaced over the years....Is it calle hard House due to a fast beat and heavy bass ?

There are two styles of generally hard house, Chicago/US hard house, being a direct descendent of the harder edged acid house, using the "Jack" element as mentioned in other threads, so your average US hard house tune is based around Distorted 909 bass drums snares etc, its very rigid sounding,
the big name for chicago hard houses are those like Dj Venom and Bam Bam...
on the other hand UK hard house is driven by faster cleaner sounding drum kits, off beat basses, and rave style Hoover synth riffs...closer to trance...thus the term "hard-trance" at times....
theyre both pretty cheesy and take a drug fuelled "go go" attitude to the weekend, a few groups in dance take quite a disliking to the music and culture, and i can see why
glowsticks, glitter and MDMA, lol
