The song is called Anthem by N-Joi. The other familiar line in it is "I'm in love with you...want you to love me too". I would assume they sampled these lines but I don't know from where.
I just remembered this one on a tape my sister made me around 1991. There's an infectious beat, and a female voice saying (not singing) "True love can be hard to find" a few times.
For some reason I think the title might be "True Love", but I don't know the artist (nor for sure if that't the title).
Thanks for help...

THAT'S IT! Thanks so much...NOT an intuitive title!
Hi there everyone,
this is my first post and the reason why I found your site. What I would love to know is where the sample "true love can be hard to find" actually came from. Does anybody maybe know who the vocalist is. I think it soundsa bit Aretha Franklinish, but any help would be most gratefully appreciated.
thx!

I know that the other samples (I'm in love with you, want you to love me too) come from Gwen Guthrie's song "Peanut Butter". The sample you're looking for does sound like an Aretha sample - I'm thinking "Jump To It". The other sample in N-Joi's "Anthem" (feel the melody that's in the air) is from Soul II Soul "Back To Life".
While we're on the subject of this song, does anyone know why the version released on Deconstruction fades very abruptly at the 4-minute mark? Was the longer version of this promo-only (a common tactic from that label at the time)? Or was there a sample that they couldn't clear?
