I guess this means they are going to release the longer version of this footage on DVD sometime in the near future.
The "longer version"? I don't think they have so much footage in the can to begin with!
Just hope they have enough to make for a decent documentary.
The bits in the trailer look great. My hopes:
a) That the 70s images have real sound and not dubbing (that DJ screaming sound a bit too perfect to my ears)
b) That they can clear the rights of the actual songs (instead of having a fake band reprising the songs or just disco obscurities)
c) That the film is not 90% today interviews and 10% actual period footage.
So far it seems marvelous, but we'll have to wait until the official release to find out.
You will not be disappointed. It is long enough. I saw part of it when I went to the DISCO exhibit in New York. I am a dedicated collector of 1970's footage so I will definitely be looking for this when it is released.
Greg,
Thank you for the link. Happy tears in my eyes from the memories. I wanna say that was Eddie Rivera leaving us about 8 in the morning at the very beginning of the clip but it goes by so fast... I'm not sure. By then I was off the door and in the back hanging out with everybody else. :D TURN THIS MOTHER****** OUT!
If anyone has loaded and watched the Gallery DVD Trailer preview available on www.nickysiano.com they might have noticed towards the end of the trailer a mixed/edited version of "Mfsb - Love Is The Message" and the bassline/percussion? from "The Clash - Magnificent Dance" well, I personally think this is just Fantastic!!! its the most innovative mix of two songs i have heard for some time!!
Does anyone know if this is an Edit by nicky, If it was ever released or if its just the true magic of Nicky Siano behind turntables. Also another note, the mix of "Donna Summer - Bad Girls (Vocal Breakdown)" & "Lamont Dozier - Going Back To My Roots" in the history movie pages of the site.
That trailer looked great, especially that period footage! Either way, even if there isn't a completely even balance of interviews and period footage, it sounds like something to look forward to. I don't think this side of disco has really been explored in a documentary form yet (as far as I'm aware), it's mostly been Studio 54, celebrities, disco demolition etc.. so this really sounds refreshing, thanks for the link!
