I just borrowed Elton's "Victim of Love" CD from the public library yesterday. I'm not really very familiar with Elton's other work so I can't compare it to his others, but I don't think it's quite as bad as people say it is. It's hilarious coming across all the universally awful reviews of this album. Not a great album perhaps, the cover of "Johnny B. Goode" falls flat, but I like the title track too as well as "Warm Love in a Cold World" and "Thunder In The Night," even if it is funny hearing him sing about how "his woman says she ain't his woman" on that one.. :P
Still, I think Pete Bellotte's production style fared much better on Melba Moore's "Burn" album from the same year as opposed to this one..
