Great stuff Greg-keep up the vibes! Carry on
Too bad there ain't no real Timecapsule coz' I would go back forever
My new monthly internet radio programme, 'Time Capsule', has just been launched on Samurai FM:
http://www.samurai.fm/timecapsule/
Time Capsule is a monthly selection of records played 30 years ago by DJ Greg Wilson – the first in the series covering January 1976.
The idea was born of 'First Impressions', which Wilson put together to mark the 30th Anniversary of his club debut, on December 6th 1975.
As the months go by, Time Capsule will build into a veritable dance music archive, which will help illustrate how the Disco era unfolded from a UK perspective.
Each Time Capsule comes complete with tracklisting and accompanying text.

Greg,
This Time Capsule series is a welcome addition to this virtual world of disco - I love these Time Capsules....
they capture the UK scene perfectly,
I especially love the notes that go with each Capsule....I find myself going " Yes I did that, I remember this"...Awesome. :D .
If you put it out on a CD each month I would be prepared to buy it .
Hope you can keep going right up to the 80's ???

Greg, Are you putting it on Six Million Steps ? I can't ever download or even listen to Samurai ?
Cheers
Hi starsky: Should be up on Six Million Steps within the next few days - I'll keep you posted.Originally Written by starsky
You can't download from Samurai, only stream - that seems to be the general rule with online radio. Can't work out why you're having problems streaming from Samurai, should just be a matter of clicking on the programme you wanr to hear in the 'Latest Mixes' box.
I listened via Samurai to the March 1976 selection - what a good month it was for Disco/dance music. It would be fantastic to download as I sat by my PC listening when I should have been helping the kids with their homework! :o

Greg, another great edition and I like the concept where you give a short story on the records also.
Keep 'm going!

....and thoroughly enjoyable too! The standout tracks for me are the original full length version of Love Hangover (I'd like to get my hands on a copy of that track) and still sounds as good today as it did 30 years ago and Fopp - The Ohio Players as there is a CD/DVD retail chain based in the UK named after that track - it carries a larger than normal selection of Funk/Soul/Disco then the others.Originally Written by Greg Wilson
Looking forward to May already!!
Greg, 'ave you made it down our neck of the woods and been to the 'Funky fish' in Brighton. Not quite Wigan pier but good though.

I love your mixes, specially "Music is better" and "Live in New York"
really my kinda music, great stuff, thumbs up.
any more this style online?
thanks,
Torfi
Hi Davicillo: Been wanting to come to Brighton, but haven't managed to find somewhere to play as yet. a few people who are putting on nights have been in touch, but still waiting for something definite. Any ideas? What's the Funky Fish?Originally Written by Davicillo
To date, my only appearance in Brighton was back in Dec '83
(http://www.electrofunkroots.co.uk/norman_cook.htm), although I used to get down quite a lot during the late 80's (when I lived in London) and always enjoyed the clubs there.

Hi Greg,
I spent two nites at the 'Funky Fish'. Had a fab time. Musically it's 60's soul with a smattering of Rolling Stones, Lulu (love loves to love' (quite funky), Who, kinks and 70's/80s disco.Age group....25-35 mainly but some oldies like me and some younger as well.
The 'Funky Buddah' is trendy and Poo nah nah do a retro nite on Fridays. I live in Worthing but there's naff all here! LOL!

the sound quality : 8) :D
the song choices : 8) :D
I'm surprised you are not mixing these sets Greg ..... ..... I'm guessing that maybe your intent is to provide these songs in their entirety 8)
( still though .... aren't you denying yourself a big chunk of the fun?)
Taking requests ?? ......If so, would sure love to hear MOVING LIKE A SUPERSTAR ...... a big hit from that time that I still haven't chased down to hear !!
Thanks for the great listening !! Anyone interested in hearing these disco greats in their entirety ... not just snippets ..... these Time Capsules are a great place to do so .....

I tried to pose this so it didn't sound challenging VS ...  ......... I'm grateful for the full-length versions too. I just wonder how hard it must be for Greg to resist messing with these songs .....and mixing 'em ......Originally Written by Videoskooter
