Hi
Apparently there was a Marianne track that was big at the Garage. I'm thinking it must be 'Why d'ya do it?'. Is there another one (apart from 'Broken English')? As always..thanks x

It's definitely "why d'ya do it"-
It's on Danny Krivit's "grass
roots" comp,and he uses the
Garage in the liner notes as
the only place he could properly hear it-as played by
Larry Levan,the song had a
raw,emotional power that
established a dark,angry mood.
Her vocals still make my hair
stand on end..

I was thinking of STRETCH's disco version but maybe that's not the one.
ya, they are pretty bad ....Originally Written by thommy2458
.... Oh, yes .............. I'm sure during this song's release , Danny traveled to every disco , every city the world over.... and it was only The Gah-rage, dahling , .... where he could "properly" hear this song !!!! ....... :P :P :P !!It's on Danny Krivit's "grassroots" comp, and he uses the

Phyllis-Let me quote EXACTLYOriginally Written by PhyllisHyman
the Krivit liner notes and why
I used it to reference your
question-
"People ask me what was my favorite moment at the Garage
and there were many. But where some people think of the popular songs,my favorite
memories were a little more
obscure.Larry played this song
very emotionally and it worked me emotionally. He did his own
lights to it and really twisted you with it.The way he worked
the guitars on the system and the meaning of the song made it one of the most striking I heard over ten years at the Garage. It certainly didn't sound the same at other places."
Danny Krivit was explaining
his feelings about how he
connected the song to the Garage, but I'm sure it had the
same effect on others wherever
they heard it.And apparently,in
Remicks case to the adverse effect-hey,it's not everyones
"cup of tea" and her vocals
are part of the package-like it or not.
What was good about cuts like
"why d'ya do it" and Yoko Ono's
"walking on thin ice",Nina Hagens'Cosmic Shiva"-to name a few-was they added some much needed diversity on the
dance floor,at a time when it needed the most.So open up your mind "Dahling" and enjoy!!!

Nasty girl, this one falls in the "Don't take home to mama" category
Sorry ...... at the moment , I just couldn't resist messing with your answer Thommy. ......... ...... I actually very much like the song and Miss Faithful's gritty vocals are what make itOriginally Written by thommy2458
And your point , about how it brought variety to the dancefloor is an especially good one.
.....
Anyway ... your further explanation of Krivit's perspective of the song and how much meaning it had for him ... as heard at … ….. the Gahrage ... is perfectly acceptable !!! :D
