Also... That guy behind the info counter told me Madleen is NOT dead.![]()
I read about this lady here some time ago, and I think it said she had drugged herself to death. The other day I *finally* managed to order a compilation with her, and the guy at the counter just happened to be a genius. He informed me about her being Swedish (didn't know THAT), having married a multi-millionaire and thereby getting some help with her career. He also told me about her havin a dance chart no 1 in the US.
Are there any other details known about her...? I do like the tracks I've heard of her so far, and it's much more rewarding to listen to music if you know details about the singer, I think.
What really got me sold on her was the 12" Cherchez Pas that I found in Stockholm this spring. After that I played my mp3s with her with much higher freequency (Fire In My Heart; Forbidden Love; Rough Diamond).
If you know anything and have the time to write it I'd appreciate it a lot...

Hey dollies and drama queen lovers! Nobody knows anything about this girl?
All I have is a cassette release of her hit album with "Forbidden love". I think it is excellent disco.

Are you sure you're not getting her mixed up with Madeline Kahn the actress who died 2-3 years ago?
There is an album produced in 1981 with Giorgio Moroder which features IMO a great dance track called "You Can". I remember dancing to it regularly at the time. I cant remember the album title. Forbidden Love is also a great track. I have the Rough Diamond album on vinyl which dates to 1978. It is interesting although her vocals are weak. I had alook at allmusic.com and found more details on her and later hinrg tracks which I had never heard of.

I rather like Madleen Kane, given the fact that Euro is NOT my favorite genre. Her stuff was constucted rather more in the Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder vein rather than the anonymous cooing cheesy female vocals some Euro-meisters specialized in.
That said, her voice was certainly NOT in the latter Donna Summer league, BUT could be said to sound like her "Spring Affair" period. Not too shabby.
My fave Madleen tracks are:
"Cherchez Pas"
"Forbidden Love/Fire In Your heart/Cheri/Secret Love Affair" Suite
And especially her work with Giorgio & Pete Bellotte on the LP "Don't Wanna Lose You" from 1981:
"You Can"
"Playing For Time"
"Fire In My Heart"
I don't know anything about her personal life, however. Haven't seen or heard of her in years.
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
SHE IS NOT DEAD!!!!! MADLEEN KANE WAS A FASHION MODEL LIKE GRACE JONES AND SUZI LANE BEFORE THEY WERE DISCO SINGERS. ALL HAD MANY DISCO HITS MY TWO BEST SONGS OF MADLEEN KANE WERE ROUGH DIAMOND AND FORBIDDEN LOVE. MADLEEN LIVES ON...........
I didnt know Suzi Lane was a model also. I got a copy of her LP 'Ooh La La' when I visited San Francisco a couple of years ago & would love to know more about her because she didnt seem to do much else after this did she?
...ya gotta beat the street......
See... There were some opinions and info...
Thanks!![]()
