"THIS IS IT" - 12" version.....

I know I've read somewhere that Mr. Moulton himself extended the 3:30 LP/single version of Melba Moore's first dance hit. Where does this version exist?--every cd I have has the short version--I didn't even see the 12" promo in Bernie's A-Z vault. I think it was still under 5:00--maybe 4:45 or something like that? I can't find what I read in Moulton's columns--so it must have been elsewhere..... :-?

Anyone have the stats? Anyone know if it's ever been on cd???? :-? :o :-? :o

    AMG:

DEEP BEATS: "Disco Classics" (Vol 1) (1994)

    10) This Is It Melba Moore 4:45

"This volume explores disco from techno-electronic to classy, urban ballads. Carrie Lucas' "Dance With You," the Tramps' "Penquin at the Big Apple/Zing Went the Strings of My Heart," and Shalamar's "Uptown Festival" will require listeners to wax their hardwood floors after they scuff em' up dancing. Aquarian Dream, France Joli, and Lemon deliver a unique brand of European disco that has aged well. Gladys Knight & the Pips, Melba Moore, and Phyllis Hyman appear out-of-place on a collection that should have come with dance instructions, but their selections add balance. Every track is uncut and unedited. "

    Hi Mark,
I have that volume of Deep Beats. I'll try to remember to check it out tonight to confirm the time. Don't let me forget.

By the powers of discoland's voodoo magic .... I happen to have the 12" right by my turntable since I was impelled into playing it last night.

Looks as though the "THIS IS IT " side , the "B" side , was attached as an oldies song to the 12"'s "A" side which is "STANDING RIGHT HERE ".

"THIS IS IT " times in at 4:45.

The "A" side has become an instant favorite of mine .... I don't recall it from 1977 .... the date on the 12". It's a wonderful mid-tempo Linda Cliffordish tune but with a Philadelphia sound ---- nice horn punches --- written and produced by McFadden & Whitehead .... and even @ 7:01 it seems to close out too early ....

STANDING RIGHT HERE is such a great tune--the Troc tape I have mixes it after Linda Clifford's Runaway Love...."and I'll be standing right here...just waitin' on your return"....you Runaway love, you.

    Ooops, I'm wrong....

No actually it goes like this:

IT'S MY HOUSE - Miss Ross
STANDING RIGHT HERE - Melba Moore
    RUNAWAY LOVE - Linda Clifford
YOU STEPPED INTO MY LIFE - Melba Moore
    PASSION - Rod Stewart
LIKE AN EAGLE - Dennis Parker
    NATIVE NEW YORKER - Odyssey
I FOUND LOVE - Deniece Williams
JUST US - Two Tons O' Fun
WHAT CHA GONNA DO WITH MY LOVIN' - Stephanie Mills
    DOUBLE LOVE - Crackin'
    I DON'T WANNA BE A FREAK (BUT I CAN'T HELP MYSELF) - Dynasty
STREET LIFE - Crusaders feat. Randy Crawford

    I love this tape!! That's a dream set, IMHO. :D :D :D :D

There was a Unidisc CD Greatest Hits for Melba Moore, which was comprised of her Van McCoy era stuff. It had the 12" remix on it.

"THIS IS IT" sounds very slow at +2 and obviously even slower at the normal setting of 0. I need to increase the speed to +3 for the song to start sounding normal to me. This may be due to a defective pressing or the fact the record and the music on it is older than I am.

hey boys, for those of you that collect vinyl, there is also a PROMO 12" on BUDDAH of "THIS IS IT"
DISCO 103 is the release number, it has "THIS IS IT" on both sides of the 12", same as the "MORE, MORE, MORE" promo.

I just found this!!! I had it all the time!!!:lol::lol: I picked up a 12" of "Standing Right Here" awhile back at Amoeba and totally forgot that the flip side has the extended version of "This Is It"!!! Duh.

I was reminded of this by the Vicki Sue Robinson thread--putting "Turn The Beat Around" on the flip of a later 12" release. there must be more of these hits that were too early for a commercial 12" release that did get a b-side on a later release...I know Frankie Valli's "Swearin' To God" from 1975 is on a commercial 12" from 1976....

I've got an mp3 that is labeled "This is it - Disco Mix" and I have no idea where it's originally from, but it clocks in at 5:23 - anybody familiar with this version?
