    Dear ruoffended!
JAMES WELLS "Explosion" has been produced
by IAN LEVINE, and sounds like the typical
    70iesDiscoSound from Ian. "Explosion" can
be compared with Evelyn Thomas, D´Llegance
    oder Croisette.
    1)Explosion(10.03)
    2)More To Me Than Meets(8.26)
    3)Double Dose Of Love(9.50)
    4)There Nothing Sweeter Than Succes(5.58)
    5)A Case Of Mistaken Identity(6.41)
Released On AVI Records in 1979.
    Mixed by RICK GIANATOS.

    Hi Sirius,

That must be your LONGEST LIST YET!!

And there's quite a few I know!
    But even more that I don't!! :???:

Starting off with that LaSo track that I only discovered about a month back, and that you helped me on. Utterly infectious!

Melody Stewart - I've always loved that track...especially the brilliant percussion arrangements

Sea Level - Sneakers(54) - Wow!! Sirius is gettin' jazzy!! YEAAHHH !!

That RJ´S LATEST ARRIVAL track - haven't heard that in ages! Real class! The same goes for that CREME D´COCOA track ...

Then you play some classics - First Choice, Earth Wind and Fire!!!

    And... DONNA SUMMER!
Even though (as you probably know by now) I tend towards the more funky side of the music rather than pure disco at times, I gotta say that I think that track is absolutely knockout!!! It has that sultry "hot summer nights" sexy feel to it - LOVE IT!!  Bit too short though!!

If you want to know, my other favourite Donna Summer track is "Bad Girls" - I love the instrumental breaks with the whistles... magic!!

That Brandye LP you have included - is that the same group that did the wonderful "Love Has It's Own Rhythm"? A track that I hear from time to time on the radio but have never seen anywhere!

As always, Sirius, the best music in the universe!!

    Dear jazz_pilgrim!
    Again, thanx for the roses!!!
DONNA SUMMER´s "Bad Girls" is a big hit
    at DISCO-HEAVEN and there´s a sentence that
gays understand really well:"Now you and me
we´re both the same...but you call yourself
by different names...". Certainly play this
with "Hot Stuff" from the 12"-Medley with
    the saxophone-solo.
I really like sometimes Disco-Jazz, not only
Crusaders´"Street Life", which is also a big
hit at 4:00 a.m., but I´m also into Herbie
Hancock, Wilton Felder, George Benson, Ronnie
    Laws, and so many others.
If you want to know, my favorite labels are
    real classic:T.K.Disco, Salsoul, Prelude,
    WestEnd, AVI, Midsong and certainly
    Casablanca!
Another question: You are from England...are
there some good original Disco-Clubs around?
Also I am very interested in the British
DiscoScene from the past...I only know the
stories about "Bang" and "Heaven", but there
    is more for sure!

I should think that my classic labels would include all of the above. I would put TK and Salsoul as my top favourites. I just love the record sleeves on those TK 12-inch disco singles - that is where I am going to retire!!

As for disco clubs in London, I apologise that I don't really know the gay clubs apart from Heaven, which I think was called the Global Village before.

Though I did used to frequent a gay venue in the mid-80's in Central London for its Thursday (straight) nite Seventies Disco session, with one of the best Seventies Dj's at the time - George Power. Two of the biggest records from those nights were:
Kinsmann Dazz - Love Design and Love Symphony Orchestra - Let Me Be Your Fantasy
That was always a very good nite.

I got into the disco scene big time in '77 and I can list these as the main clubs:

Maunkberry's - I never went there but it was kinda expensive and sophisticated (so I believe).

The other really good Central London club I remember was Gossips.

I was into the "Soul Mafia" scene, where we had a certain set of Djs, and a very loyal following of soul fans and some of ourt clubs were:
    Southgate Royalty
    Lacey Lady's
    Canvey Island Goldmine
the Caister Soul Weekenders - held twice a year at a holiday camp on the East coast - a whole weekend of partying!!

Frenchies was a good club in South-West London, which always had an all-dayer on Xmas Day.

In South East London, I used to go to Flicks a lot - a massive club with a pretty good following.

I grew up in a town 35 miles south of London
and we used to go to clubs in Kent and on the south coast..

    Hope this is of interest!

    Dear jazz_pilgrim!
Thanx a lot for the information from Englands
DiscoPast...but is there also nowadays a
    fine DiscoClubbin existing???
It can´t be true, that only House and Techno
is ruling the Clubland in England...
I discovered DiscoMusic about 1975, as an
older neighbour-girl was playing all the
time Gloria Gaynor, Silver Convention and
Donna Summer...I remember that she was very
bitchy with hot pants, transparent tops and
    plateau-shoes!
Later her younger sister gave me her records
which she had from a disco and that was
Munich Machine, Peter Brown, Karen Young,
Donna Summer, Baciotti, Cerrone and other
hot stuff...then I fell into trance!
She was also very bitchy but she was in
    tight satin-jeans, endless heels and
    glittering pailett-tops...
About late 1978 I was then first time in
a discotheque called "Night Fever"... I
was about 13 years old...later I knew the
    clubs like "Jet Set", "Magic"(="Volksgarten
    ="People´s Garden"), "Queen Anne"(Joan
Collins made a film inside), "Jack Daniels"
and many more. The most exclusive club was
called "St.Tropez", the biggest thing was
"Studio 35". At the height of the disco-wave
everybody was into DiscoSound and it was a
real hot and happy Summer in 1979 with lots
of good feelings, Sylvester, "Bad Girls" and
    sexual experiences...then Disco went sudden-
ly dead...I didn´t understand the world
    anymore.
In 1980 I went into the NewRomanticMovement
and was never the same again...it sounds
maybe kitschy, but I´ve never asked for
    a rainbow anymore!
    To be continued...
