Like Linda Ronstadt and Barbra Streisand, Ross does not write her own songs.
But some of her most memorable solo hits, such as 1980's "Upside Down" and "I'm Coming Out," have a decidedly personal tone, as she acknowledged.
"It has to be real for me," Ross said of the songs she performs. "Usually, it comes from what's going on in my life. In fact, when I talk to a songwriter, I'm talking about what's going on with me right now, then they write the story of my life. It's usually the tapestry of my life at that time.
"When I sat down with Nile Rodgers (of Chic, who produced and co-wrote her 1980 album, 'Diana'), I said: 'My life feels upside down; I feel like I'm coming out.' And that's what he and (Chic cohort) Bernard Edwards wrote about. That's how they wrote 'I'm Coming Out' and 'Upside Down.' "
:)
I have read that Bernard made "Upside Down" more dancier (funkier) and Ms Ross the Diva herself wanted it toned down and they butted heads but The Diva won in the end. Still a good jam.

Including LOVE HANGOVER , Miss Ross ?? ------ :P :P :P :"It has to be real for me," Ross said of the songs she performs. "Usually, it comes from what's going on in my life. In fact, when I talk to a songwriter, I'm talking about what's going on with me right now, then they write the story of my life. It's usually the tapestry of my life at that time.
Guess so !!! :P :lol:In February, she pleaded no contest to a late-2002 drunken-driving charge in Tucson, Ariz., which resulted in two days of jail time. Her sentence came two years after she had briefly entered a Malibu rehab center (for what was then described as "personal issues"),
Does this even make sense??"When I sat down with Nile Rodgers (of Chic, who produced and co-wrote her 1980 album, 'Diana'), I said: 'My life feels upside down; I feel like I'm coming out.' And that's what he and (Chic cohort) Bernard Edwards wrote about. That's how they wrote 'I'm Coming Out' and 'Upside Down.' "What kind of comment is "I feel like I'm comin' out " ????? :P :P

Yes,
In 2003, Universal Records release Diana's album "Diana"(Deluxe Edition)! It's double CD - Motown and Chic's version! Of course, Chic's sounds more funkier...
I'm still searching for it!!!
