I am sure all of you folks out there have one track that you don't have and are dying to get your hands on it.

You probably were dreaming all last night, weren't you, thinking about the day when you get it in your hands for the FIRST time!!

I know poor old Sammy is going nuts trying to get his Strawberry Letter 23 LP.... :???:

I think the track that I would love to get my hand on the most at present is JOHHNY MATHIS and that wonderful disco mix of "Gone Gone Gone" - as mentioned by Sirius a few weeks ago. It gets played on my favourite Friday night disco radio show from time to time... I can't find it anywhere

What is the track that you guys out there want, nay DESIRE, the most???

Well, I just got "There But for the Grace of God Go I", so that's number one crossed off my wants list. I'd love to find "Saturday" by Norma Jean on vinyl somewhere - without doubt the best Chic spin off I've heard.

I see you live in London - what's the disco station you listen to? I live in Clapham, and all the pirate stations seem to be r'n'b or dancehall.

I listen to Greg Edwards on Jazz FM (102.2 FM) between 10pm and 1am. I put a post about it in the "Concerts" section a while back..

I have the Norma Jean LP with "Saturday" on -I picked it up in a boot sale for £1 a few years back!!

... In Croydon I have seen the LP reissued as a CD. You should be able to find it in Central London, hopefully...

I've listened to a number of sound samples on funk45.com and there are some super rare funky grooves I really WANT!!! But one that I DESPARATELY WANT is:

Bobby Sax & The New Messiah - Out House 73 1973

I've listened to the sound sample and it is SO COOL!!!!! If anyone has this song I'd love to have it record or MP3. At the moment I'm so damn broke that I cannot afford to import records from USA, after being hit with the phone bill, car rego and rent I've only got $10 left in the bank. To listen to a sound sample of this go to this page on funk45.com http://www.funk45.com/index.asp?type...tist&submit=go it is SO COOL!!!

I'm after ANY Kay Gees records as well, I've not seen one Kay Gees record around in Australia yet. A Kay Gees track that I really want at the moment is "Kay Gees Theme".

I'm also after a good condition 45 of Tribe's "Koke". I downloaded it on MP3 and it sounded really cool but the sound was full of hisses, nicks and scratches which I guess the person who encoded it recorded it from a record that has been sand-papered and slashed with a stanley knife and had its grooves packed with dirt.

Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!

    Lessee...

12" versions of early Dee D Jackson tracks, especially "Automatic Lover".
Any of the Sweet Potato Pie 7" singles.
The 12" version of "Weekend" by Phreek.
Cerrone VI on vinyl, as well as any 12" singles from this album.
12" of "Flight From Versailles" by Grand Tour.
12" mixes (both original and remix) of "Two Hot For Love" by THP Orchestra.
A copy of Milton Hamilton's "Disco Madness" on TR.
Any of those obscure Patrick Adams productions

    Non-disco items:
Edgar Froese - Epsilon In Malaysian Pale, on CD. I had this, but it got stolen.
Don Slepian - Sonic Perfume on CD (as above)
Revenge - 7 reasons CD EP (as above)
Several Nik Tyndall albums on vinyl, particularly "Zeitenwende".
Vangelis - My Love (7" single)
Vangelis - See You Later test pressing with two tracks dropped from the final release.
Bedouin Ascent - Further Self-Evident Truths EP (not to be confused with the Rising High compilations of the same name). I had this but I've lost it. I really loved the track "Winter Trees".

    Well,

I would like to get the track "Pick Up The Pieces" by Dream Orchestra. Sirius used to start his playlists with it. It's an instrumental track. I dont know it, but I'm a big fan of instrumental disco versions and, of course, if Sirius like the track, it must be good!!

    Peace

How interesting that others are looking for the John Luongo 12" mix of "Gone, Gone, Gone" by Johnny Mathis.

That's one of mine also. Everytime I go to Amoeba, I search through the Disco and go to the Easy Listening section and check under Mathis also. No luck yet.

I have the short LP version, BUT the 12" is THE VERSION. Strangely, I think I passed over "Begin The Beguine" several times over the years, NEVER THINKING to turn it over and find "GGG" on the B-side!!!!

    Who knew???!!!!
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

    No problem Sirius,

Cheese or trashy couldnt be necessarily BAD. And more, "Pick Up the Pieces" have no way to be cheese!!!

    FunkyDude,

You should keep checking GEMM for this one. I saw two vendors who had this on their lists recently.

    Just two for me:

Andy Williams - "Love Theme from King Kong"
I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined owning this way back when. It was a 7" two-part 45 on Columbia (import). And no, I'm not confusing it with "Where Do I Begin".

"You'll Never Find (Another Love Like Mine)"
I was never able to find out who the artist is/was that covered this Lou Rawls' classic. I heard it on a tape while hanging out in The Village (sometime during the 80's) and the bartenders' weren't given a playlist.

Originally, yes. The album was later reissued on Disco Mania. I'm hoping that the TR copies sound better, as the mastering on the Disco Mania copies is terrible. Flat, squashed, and almost totally lacking in dynamics... and then cut really low to boot!

This has become one of my all-time fave albums. I'm just hoping that better pressings exist.

My most wanted record at the moment is the Walter Gibbons remix of Law & Order - Love Committee.

Other than that I would like to own:

The Jammers - What have you got to loose (Salsoul 12")
    Carol Lloyd - Showdown (LP and/or 12")

Other than that, from present times I would like to find all Kimara Lovelace 12"'s as well as all Urban Blues Project 12"'s.

I have the 12" of Johhny Mathis on CD but I guess that doesn't count for the purists. It was included in the excellent late 80's/early 90's series "Dance Classics" on the Dutch Arcade label.

I have had the "Begin the Beguine" 12-inch for years and never bothered to play the flip side! So all this talk about "Gone Gone Gone" convinced me to give it a listen...

But I don't understand all the fuss, frankly. Is it one of those "you had to be there" in the moment songs for some of you..? Everyone has them.

FunkyDude, the Tribe track is available on a new Francois K compilation album, I think it might be called FK Selection or something nonedescript like that - can´t check because I post from internet cafes. There´s a lot more good stuff on it as well, like Shalamar - Right In the Socket and Zulema - Giving Up. Of course, this won´t help if you are dead set on getting an original copy...

Thank you, but I haven't got a MD-player ;-( . It would be really great if you could make an mp3 of the record and mail it to me via email. (Till now i only got a shortened version version from Audiogalaxy)
