I really enjoyed this, as I'm pretty sure most people here would.
Here's what someone had to say about it on another forum:
Anyone catch the documentary about Gloria Gaynor's 'I will survive' on BBC3 last night? I wasn't gonna give it long as I imagined it would be one of the cheesiest shows ever but it was far better than I expected.
The highlights for me were all the interviews with Gloria and the footage from her early days (kinda sad that she now thinks her whole career is defined by just this one song but I guess that's how she's come to see it over the years), and seeing Tom Moulton play around in his studio with the orginal multi-track and hearing how he went about creating his re-edit. Nicky Siano also chipped-in, and there was much talk about how Richie Kaczor broke the record (originally a B-side) at Studio 54.
The other fantastic part was seeing Dino Fekaris talk through how he made it with Freddie Perren (who sadly passed away in 2004), and then seeing the original rhythm section re-united for the first time in 26 years and then hearing them playing the tune again and reminiscing about back in the day.
There was a helluva lot of padding too but these bits made it more than worthwhile. I should just add that I still think 'I will survive' is one of my least favourite disco ditties, but disco gets so little (credible) coverage on mainstream TV that this programme was like a breathe of fresh air.
